To be honest I hope Atletico get's relegated and we buy Aguero.
I'm holding out for signing Messi myself,I'm sure we can haggle them down from the 250M euro buy out clause.

Aguero would be nice on the bench mind you.
Now you're being greedy..
Whatever we do i aint having that Ronaldo cunt signing for us.... not unless we get mourinho as well as the manager.
That's stupid.

They both hate each other's guts.

If we had that kind of money, I think I'd be disappointed with this signing.

We don't need a striker to take us away from the 4-2-3-1 ...
The importance that some Liverpool fans place on the 4-2-3-1 system in mind boggling.

Especially considering it hasn't worked without Alonso.
You're right, we've only scored 20 odd goals in 6 games and are still waiting for Alonso's replacement to play.

The lack of importance some Liverpool fans place on the Torres & Gerrard combo is mind boggling ... Why break up the best 'striker' partnership in the world?
Er, you do realise they didn't play as a strike partnership yesterday Wiz? And that we scored six goals?

We would be mad not to try and sign David Villa if there was any chance of it happening.
If we play a 'proper' striker, then Gerrard will have extra defensive responsibilities that won't allow him to do what he does best. I'd rather we get a world class winger for our left side and a big time CB (or DM to replace Mascherano if he is really on his way out next year) ...

I really like Aguero (though Atleti aren't going down) but my mate in Madrid, a season ticket holder for 25+ years, says he's a gifted player who's lazy and doesn't play for the team. That worries me ...

Why 49 million?

It's kinda random..
Whats the equivalent in euro's as thats there currency?

works out at 51,807,700 euros so thats a random price aswell..

when a striker of villa's quality is available and you have the money you by him and then work out the details. having said that though if we had 45 million burning a hole in our pocket I'd sooner we spent it on a world class winger than a world class striker.

utd didn't need to buy rooney, but then they didn't need to buy berbatov either.

but as been said i'd have him and to hell with this 451 is the only way

I'm not sure there *are* any world-class wingers out there though. Ribery, perhaps, but he's going to Madrid next season for €80m. I also like Silva, but Yossi's current form makes me wonder if we really need him.

Villa is, along with Torres and Eto'o, probably the deadliest striker in world football. Real were mad not to sign him when they had the chance IMO, and if there was any way we could afford him we would *have* to try and sign him.

That depends on how the rest of the money was spent. The only winger who would command such a fee is Ribery and he looks nailed onto one of the top clubs in Spain.

Then you move down the valuations to someone like Silva. Say we landed him for £27M and a good back up striker, like Bent, or someone of his ilk, then it could arguably be preferable to an all out move for Villa.

Anyway there's only so long I can hypothetically talk about spending Monopoly money.

In other news, Steve Bruce has asked for 200million to sign Messi.
199million

I read that Barca had everything agreed to sign Villa and then did a sudden u-turn and signed "2nd choice" Ibra instead.

Villa is definitely one of the top three strikers around and it's a little surprising Valencia have managed to hold onto him for so long even taking into account his loyalty and desire to stay in Spain. He's far too good for them.
