Liverpool may be preparing to sign 49 million Villa

According to the 'Sunday People' Rafa Benitez has already asked the team's owners (Tom Hicks and George Gillett) for about 49 million euros to sign Valencia striker David Villa.

The British newspaper says the British group could even try the operation during the winter.

The 86 million that Liverpool has gained with the sponsorship of Standard Chartered Bank could help the 'reds' in the hypothetical transfer.

Havent they just re-financed or got new investment recently hence they didnt have to sell Matta, Villa and Silva?

Either way this story is just made up. Im sure we'll have allot of it if the Saudis continue to be linked with us.

49 million for the Midlands Club is good business.

If we had that kind of money, I think I'd be disappointed with this signing.

We don't need a striker to take us away from the 4-2-3-1 ...

The importance that some Liverpool fans place on the 4-2-3-1 system in mind boggling.

Especially considering it hasn't worked without Alonso.

cuz 50 looks as though it was made up. Where as 49 looks as though it was pulled out of someone's arse.

the devil is in the detail(s)

You're right, we've only scored 20 odd goals in 6 games and are still waiting for Alonso's replacement to play.

The lack of importance some Liverpool fans place on the Torres & Gerrard combo is mind boggling ... Why break up the best 'striker' partnership in the world?

Er, you do realise they didn't play as a strike partnership yesterday Wiz? And that we scored six goals?

We would be mad not to try and sign David Villa if there was any chance of it happening.

Why bother posting such blatantly obvious guff??

Just why do it?

NOBODY on the planet believes it so why post it? Not even the hack who wrote it believes it....

I doubt it.

The fact that Gerrard and Torres can combine awesomely in a 4-4-2 is pretty obvious, although widely ignored.

To be honest I hope Atletico get's relegated and we buy Aguero.
[/quote]

I'm holding out for signing Messi myself,I'm sure we can haggle them down from the 250M euro buy out clause.

Aguero would be nice on the bench mind you.
