Not a chance - he had more than one and blew it. If we can get Silva I will be ecstatic. LW / RW / AM - he covers the lost with class.
 
I like him in La Liga but I share some folks' concerns over whether he'd be suited here. It'd be a major risk for the money he'd cost. I'd sooner try and find the extra few mill.and make a determined bid for Ribery.
 
No transfer is ever a sure thing. It's a question of deciding which are the sensible risks to take, and for how much. Ribery's done well in a league where the physical challenge is probably more similar to that in the Prem than anywhere else in Europe.

The figures mentioned for both players would suggest the price difference is more than a few million. Silva is usually estimated at £15-20m. Ribery's price seems to be anything from £35-60m.

Fair enough. I thought Ribery's price range started at about £25 mill. Can't see anyone paying £35 mill.plus though (plus, if he wants to go, it would be in Bayern's interests not to price themselves out of the market completely) so you never know.
 
If Ribery wanted out though JJ, every top side in the world would want him, they'd have no shortage of suitors.

I don't think they'd need to go for a cut price sale..

Wouldn't disagree with any of that, but the price would still have to be realistic in this day and age. I guess it depends on how different clubs define "cut price/realistic".
 
Bayern paid a hefty fee for him in the first place and he's excelled there - that coupled with the shortage of 'worldclass' wide-players means Ribery will go for £30M+

Valencia will try to claw as much money from Silva and Villa as they can.

Can't see them getting more than £22M for Silva 'cos while he's a good player, he's still got an awful amount to prove at the highest level

All spot on. Except I can't see Silva going for more than 15 - 18M unless the Mancs are in for him (I'm sure they will ditch Nani).
