Yesterday my Arsenal mate was talking non stop all through work about the upcoming league game against Utd. He couldn't sleep, eat, drink or even think about work. It was just the game that night against Utd and about being top of the league. Me on the other hand, was all meh. We just lost to the Magpies 3-1, shame that, could have been 7th. Ah well. We're shite, life is shite and watching football is not the same as it used to be.

Tonight I relived and watched the season highlights from 08/09. Torture I know. But it was just so fantastic to watch.
Beating Boro and City in injury time, being a goal behind and winning. Seeing the players cheer, celebrate and brim with confidence. The Real Madrid games, Utd away, winning at Fulham in the 90th min, beating Chelsea at the Bridge and to top if of with Big Samis farewell at Anfield. That even brought a tear to my eye.

I'm just so sad with our current state of affairs. Not caring about the games we play, the indifference to losing, not celebrating a win, the constant torture of looking at the league table and a manager that has no clue about what Liverpool Football Club is all about.

I just want to feel excited about a game again, being involved in top of the league deciding clashes and having a manager that knows our beloved club is all about winning. It's been nearly 2 years now, and it will probably take a while to bring us back to the top. Installing a winning culture and getting the players to sweat blood to achieve our goals.
So I really hope NESV and Henry were listening yesterday. Because I think that my feelings are pretty much the same as most other Liverpool fans these days. We've had our focus on off field problems for ages, and has replaced the hate of our former owners to the current manager. I really believe that Henry can deliver our great club the glory that we all want. But I just can't wait for the day when a new manager delivers a more attacking minded press conference, when our players look like they can't be beat again and we have replaced some of the dross in our squad with players fit to wear the red shirt. I'm extremely tired of going backwards.

The owners should be granted time to get they're long term plans in place, but I just can't help feeling that I need some big decisions to be made short term aswell. I desperatly want to feel what my Arsenal mate went through yesterday. Although with a different outcome when the actual match is played of course..

I was just on my way out to celebrate getting 100% in a law debate, and finishing uni for the year. Thanks for depressing me.

I think we're in exactly the same place, but it's going to be a long before anything significantly happens. I'm talking two to three seasons here.

We can switch the manager now and sure, we might see a bit of an improvement - but we all know this squad is miles off Champions League standard let alone one which can compete for the Premier League.

Konchesky
Skrtel
Agger
Poulsen
N'gog
Babel
Kuyt and Maxi (on their off days)
Lucas

That's a lot of shite right there, and it all needs clearing before this club can start making big strides forward.

Our current situation is as much a reflection upon the talent of the squad as it is the talent of the manager.

Half the time when I'm going the match I feel like I'm going round to some ex bird I used to really love to pick up some CDs and undies, and maybe if I'm lucky get a wank.

I genuinely believe Henry and Co will make us successful. I'm not too bothered about this season, like others I've written it off but I think we're already moving in the right direction in some respects.

Off the pitch the stadium issue is being looked at, the backroom of the club is being rebuilt, we will get a new manager somewhere along the line - I'm guessing during the summer. I've always thought we were a poorly run club but a lot of it was masked by our ability to outspend most of the league. When the money dried up we got found out.

It'll take time but I have every confidence in Henry and Co. , simply because they're willing to question everything about how we do things. At this stage it's pretty clear they know where our problems lie and they do seem to be willing to build things from the ground up.

I was delighted when they entered the fray, and I've yet to see anything from them that would worry me.

They've done fuck all to allay any fears, or instil any confidence, in any way. At all.

In fact, the opposite is true.

They've talked the talk.

They've not had a chance to prove they can walk the walk yet, so we'll just have to wait and see but I can see no reason why anyone wouldn't be confident of the new... yanks improving things, big time. . .
:-X :-\

ah fuck it, I think we'll see an improvement under them, either way.

Just the thread I need to join in the massive depression I have over our beloved club. I no longer look forward to the weekend games. This season is over for me before the 10 games RH wanted to judge him by. Manc supporters no longer have any fun out my misery because I no longer care about their results nor ours. Race to 19? Nah let them have it. CL 5? It is history.

I'm down with this.

They're simply not the other pair of nobheads.

LFC doesn't really exist any more. All the things that were good about the club have gone.

People will say that just because we've sold out to yanks that don't give a shit, have a manager that doesn't give a shit, are sponsored by a faceless financial entity, have uninterested disconnected players - all that doesn't matter because we still have the best fans.

No we don't. We quite clearly don't. The fans are divided on every issue and even the aways have been shit for 18 months.

I said I would only judge them on their actions.

So far they've hired a DOF, Comolli - an idea I'm not against given our horrific scouting in recent years, although it's a potentially risky and contentious route to go down.

The key points however are: they have yet to fire Hodgson, and they've yet to promise a new stadium. The sooner they address these points, the better.

They've conducted themselves very well as far as I'm concerned. There's not a lot to evaluate them on, because there's not a lot they could have done thus far. The solutions to the problems we are longer term and aren't best addressed hastily. The short term problems we have, I believe will be addressed, but their professionalism, control and good PR at least speaks to the fact that they are reasonably good businessmen.

There's enough with what they've done here and elsewhere to make me cautiously optimistic.

Club? We're a 'franchise' now.

If you object to the commercialization of the club, that's a valid complaint you have with football in general, because either we go that way or die.

That's got nothing to do with the fact that here it's soccer, and there it's football though.

Even up until last season I would have watched a meaningless game like tonights just to see how Wilson, Pacheco etc are shaping up but not this season.

What's the point? They have been affected by the negativity that runs throughout the club and they have little chance of impressing with poor direction, motivation and confidence.

We can learn nothing tonight on or off the pitch until the blood-letting begins.

But the term itself is a sign that as a club we're losing our soul.

I no longer think my club is going to go bankrupt and do a Leeds when a bank calls in the loans in a few weeks, so that's obviously not true.

Squiggs : They havent sacked Hodgson; but my guess is probably that they havent a clue who to appoint that we could get now.

They probably thought Hodgson could turn it around, but that phone in conversation probably dispelled that.

But Hodgson is definitely a dead man walking.

As for the stadium, they're probably going to announce some damn feasibility study as to the possibilities of staying in Anfield.

Ian Ayre's comments about the Emirates make that a very good possibility.

Exactly.

The soul isn't 'us'. It's a load of knuckle dragging bellends who want to burn effigies of people who wear the the wrong adidas

I was watching the Liverpool v Madrid highlights the other week and honestly wanted to cry. How I long for us to be playing in games like that again.

Yep.

It hasnt been any better for two decades.
Im not worried, im with Rosco i think (without reason) that these yanks are boss.

Im happy to have comolli especially given that Roy in 2 months signed Poulsen, Cole, Jovanovic, Konchesky and tried to sign Carlton cole (not to mention trying to sell Babel). We dont need that bellend signing players.
I cant see them sacking Roy now. So im just hoping for a half decent end to the season and that the newman will be tipped the wink so he can asses the bellends and know whos gotta go in August.
I hope Comolli signs a bit of class in january. We are very short of it. Torres, Gerrard and Babel cant do everything.

Its pretty amazing to think that Roy is still in the job when we have lost to or failed to beat:
Grasshoppers
Kaiserslautern
Borrusia
Arsenal
Man City
Birmingham
Man Utd
Northampton
Sunderland
Utrecht
Blackpool
Everton
Napoli
Wigan
Stoke
Tottenham
Steau
Newcastle
Theres a lot of fucking muck in there we should have battered.

The opposite?

I'll give you that we've not seen much action yet, but how have they done the opposite of what Ross said?

Im sick of all this pussyfooting around here. Oh theyre lovely, oh they speak well, oh they seem savvy.

Well FUCK this. If you dont sack a shit manager and a fucking loser you are as much a part of the problem as EVERYTHING else. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM IF YOU ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE.

SACK HIM HE IS FUCKING SHIT.
