I can't see this anywhere else in the football forum so here goes:

BRAZILIAN striker Kleber claims he is considering the chance to make a £6million summer move to Anfield.

The 25-year-old frontman plays for Cruzeiro and has been in stunning form since he returned to his homeland in February after four years with Dynamo Kiev.

He has scored 19 goals in as many appearances and has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs.

"I have a proposal from Liverpool for seven million euros and we are analysing it," he said.

"If Cruzeiro offer the same amount or we talk I'd prefer to stay. But we haven't talked yet."

Kleber signed for Kiev in January 2004 after starting his career at Sao Paulo.

Last year he was loaned out to Palmeiras and he signed a five-year contract with Cruzeiro just four months ago.

Please keep your 'lonely night stories' for yourself.

I feel for you though 😉

We're linked with him again today.

Palmeiras could tempt Liverpool into a new bid for Brazilian striker Kleber Giacomace de Souza Freitasas as Roy Hodgson looks for attacking reinforcements.

The Anfield boss' priority is to sign an imposing centre forward to take the pressure off Fernando Torres in January and has considered the likes of 6ft 3in CSKA Moscow target man Tomas Necid.

But the guile of 5ft 8in Kleber has attracted them in the past and Palmeiras are now perpared to let him leave on the cheap after going out of the Copa Sudamericana.

Kleber, who has also previously been linked with Everton, claimed last year that Liverpool had made a £6million bid for his services while still on Cruzeiro’s books.

Palmeiras are willing to do business after a disappointing year to save cash on one of their highest paid players, even though he is their highest scorer in Brazil’s Serie A with 10 goals this season.

The 27-year-old is on the Sao Paulo club’s books till 2014 but claims he is owed three months’ salary, which could pave the way for a free transfer.

After talks with Palmeiras director of football Wlademir Pescarmona, Kleber said: ‘He (Pescarmona) told me that if I want to leave the club, I can.’

Kleber is uncapped but does not need a work permit as he is understood to have an Italian passport.

He has previously had a successful four-year spell in Europe, averaging a goal every other game with Dynamo Kiev and winning the domestic league twice and cup three times before returning to Brazil in February last year.

It's probably a nothing article, as usual when players say a club wants them. But he seems to have a bit of pace and scores goals. Nicknamed the Gladiator is cool.

He'll probably be as good as our other Brazilians.

As much as I can't disagree with this, a part of me (the irrational bit admittedly) still thinks. Brazilian. Striker. Only Got One Name. Get him in.

Would be good if we can do some kind of loan before permanent move deal, if we're really interested. The 'advantage' is that for the fee of a European squad/decent player, we could be getting an experienced regular who's scored a quarter of his club's league goals.

With the Brazilian domestic season ending next week, he could well go for a couple of wk's break before joining in training and would not require too long to get fit - both physically and in terms of match fitness. Now, of cos, all these are without taking into consideration how good he is, simply cos I've not seen him :-[

I know what you mean. The antidote is to mentally add "son" to the end of his name.

That's true but if he had an 'inho' in his name I'd be foaming at the prospect of seeing the big fella at Anfield.

I still remember when the Mancs were so ecstatic about him.

Happy days.

"His World Cup performances led to Scolari declaring Kléberson the driving force behind Brazil's Cup winning side, and drew interest from several English and Scottish teams. Newcastle United, Leeds United and Celtic all expressed an interest. Leeds failed to secure the signing after Kléberson decided against leaving Brazil without his girlfriend, who he was unable to marry until her 16th birthday. Eventually, it was Manchester United who signed Kléberson for a fee of £6.5 million on August 12, 2003.[1] Seen as a replacement for Juan Sebastián Verón, Kléberson was injured in his second appearance for the club and made only 30 appearances in two seasons."

Kléber (Palmeiras) na mira do Liverpool

Liverpool have made enquiries about signing Palmeiras Sao Paulo striker Kleber , according to the Portuguese Abola newspaper.

Palmeiras bought Kleber from Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte for €5 million at the start of the season, but the Brazilian club have hit financial trouble and would therefore be willing to offload the 27-year-old for €7 million, according to the newspaper.

Kleber can play as a target man or a support striker. He is good in the air, despite being short, is a good passer of the ball and has a sweet shot on him.

The former Dynamo Kyiv man has scored nine goals in 25 games this season.
