Loukanikos (Greek for sausage) was a dog that was always barking at the police during riots that kicked off at the height of the crisis. You would see it there, on the news barking away at the rozzers. Anyway, it became a minor celebrity here for a while. Myself and Mrs Athens were at a demonstration about something (I can't remember what for) and Loukanikos walked past. Mrs Athens shouted "Look! It's Loukanikos!" then said "I can't believe I got excited over seeing a dog". Now I can't believe I can't remember what the demonstration was about but I can remember seeing the dog.

Anyways, the poor guy died a few years ago.
