Never rated him. Get rid

Even when he was shitting goals for the reserves?

I remember back in September/October there was a number of translated articles saying how well he was playing etc, so im guessing he's since suffered some injuries.

I really can't see what we've got to lose in bringing him back - his wages at this point wouldn't be much and considering what else we've got in Torres' absense, it seems a no brainer to me

I've always thought Pacheco was the real 'gem', out of the two...and I still have high hopes for young Daniel.

Welcome to the site mate.
Patcheco does indeed look a bit of a prospect and he reminds me of Yossi, in a positive way.

Here's hoping that he does make the grade. We are well overdue someone really excelling coming from the reserves.

In the 07/08 season, I used to call him the 'Torres of the reserves'. Not because they're similar players or have a comparable style - they're actually very different - but because of the effect he had on the team. The reserves side that won the league that year was very solid but painfully uninspiring and lacked any real cutting edge up front. Nemeth changed that for them and had a great half a season or so (or was it more?) giving them someone to build their attacks around, someone who could score goals out of nothing and so forth.

Pacheco has always had that air of quality and promise about him, which I guess is why some (like that bellend Roger for example) have always identified him as *the* talent in the reserves, but as the doc said, Nemeth at the time was far more polished and promotable.

Since then, he's suffered two years spoilt by injury. Before going out on loan, he had a crap year in the reserves where he struggled to find his form after returning from injury. And without really having followed his time at Athens, I'm led to believe the same sort of thing has happened this season. So with that in mind, it's hard to judge where he's at now in relation to his actual potential or perhaps more to the point, the potential he showed two years ago.

I agree to some extent with Whitey though in terms of his physical attributes - he's not particularly strong or fast, relying instead on technical ability and game intelligence. The problem with that is that it'd be a waste to play him out wide and he couldn't lead the line on his own, which only really leaves two up top - which we don't really play. He's not really suited to Gerrard's role because I imagine he doesn't work hard enough for Rafa, so I don't see how he's going to get games.

On top of that, you could argue that Pacheco is now where he was at two years ago, so who would we better off investing our time in? We're not going to be able to accommodate them both.

Why not, with the number of games we're hoping to play?

Because although fans say stuff like "play the kids" and what not on boards, it rarely happens.

Like I suspect most people here I've only seen him in the form of clips but I was left with the impression that he was a smart player, I don't know why. I thought he'd be useful in home games because he takes up good positions in the box.

But a club which is supposedly skint but has such a brilliant Academy...well...you'd think it should.

His style of play (I'm NOT talking about his standard of play, which is another matter as yet) reminded me of the young Robbie Fowler.

Yeah, Nemeth is a bit like a player from another era. Keni's spot on in his assessments, and I suspect a striker without pace and power will never make it at Liverpool these days, and perhaps not in the PL at all. Which is a shame, because I enjoyed watching Nemeth. Hope he makes it somewhere...

FFS, we should give him half a chance before we pack him off

regards

He should be given a go for sure.

He should be on loan to an English club, as should all our players out on loan. How is banging in 3 goals in the George Michael league preparing him for a Prem career?

Given how much of a totally hapless div Eggnog is, I think I'd like to see Nemeth back

He can hardly be worse
Nemeth has scored 3 goals this season. In Greece.
N'Gog has 7. Some of which have been in the Champions League.

Have another go.

They're both rubbish.

Whitey regularly slates reserve players without watching them much at all.
Well I fucking hate Plessis, Mendy is gash and Brouwer is awful.

I don't slate them all. I defended Ayala when he was going through an iffy spell and everyone had decided he was shite.

The one who doesn't get much praise but I like what ive seen is Irwin. I just wish they would try and decide what position they see him in long term and give him a run of games in that position.

My problem isn't you slating them, but as you admit yourself, your analysis is based on 45 minutes here and there.

You could do that with Torres and come to the conclusion he was shite, if you had nothing else to base your opinion on.

I remember someone saying a few weeks ago that the reason N'Gog was kept as our backup and Nemeth sent out on loan was because although Nemeth is by far a better finisher, N'Gog has more pace and power (which I interpreted as a fancy way of saying strength). Guess which is more suited to the Premierleague? I think the example used was comparing them to Fowler and Shearer at international level. Although Robbie was the 'better' striker, Shearer will get you more goals.. Then again if we had a young Robbie and Shearer there wouldn't be any issue - the sad reality is they're both a bit cack..

I know what you're trying to say, but still... any comparison that involves Wash being likened to Alan Shearer is a obviously a bit shit.
