pretty sure this will be the lineup if masch is fit

reina
johnson skrtel carra aurelio
lucas masch
kuyt gerrard riera/yossi
torres

our centre pairing has been questionable this season but i think the greek would be too slow for this game and i don't think agger is ready quite yet...not the game to make gambles... also wouldn't mind swapping yossi for riera i just think for this game we need a little more width and crosses into the box for torres

this is the lineup i would play but i dont think it will happen...

reina
johnson skrtel carra aurelio
gerrard masch
kuyt yossi riera
torres

with masch covering for gerrard when he makes runs forward

LFC 2 - 1 Chelsea is my prediction

I can't believe that people want that walking disaster Skrtel play. Agger is fit, play him not that useless bald fucker.

I can't believe there are people advocating playing Agger when all he has as a means of match practice is one game in the reserves. Moronic.

We'll need the 'useless bald fucker' to have an excellent game to win today. And it certainly isn't beyond him.

Top players can give top performances even thought they lack match fitness. For example Alonso came back from injury and straight away started againts Juventus and possed the midfield. There's no reason that Agger can't do the same. There's a small risk to give Agger a start but playing Skrtel is a huge risk.

I'm so excited for the match today, I'm posting at 2:00 right now drunk off my ass but I will be up at 10:00 a.m. US time to cheer on the Reds. C'mon you Reds!

I hope Yossi and Mascher are fully fit

I don't think it's mad to consider Skrtel's position at all.

It's unlikely Benitez will act, though, and if he does, he'd sooner opt for the Greek then Agger.

'useless bald fucker' ???

calm yourself mate. Skrtel is rock solid on most occasions. He hasn't been the best of late but wow.

'rock'? I think 'competant' is a more accurate discription.

Skrtels better than hes being given credit for here, but not good enough to play week in week out for us.
But then Carragher has been worse. Worrying times.

Hyypia's exit is proving to be an equally big loss as Xabi Alonso.

I thought we'd have one last top year from Carragher but it's looking unlikely unless he dramatically turns it around.

How Agger fits in could help shape our season. Speaking of which;

"Benitez is also set to make a late decision on the fitness of Daniel Agger after he completed 68 minutes for the reserves following a back injury.

"Daniel trained today. I watched the DVD of the reserve game and he did well," said the boss.

"Maybe he will have a chance for Sunday - we will see.

"He is a player who can defend really well but he also has quality in possession. It will be good to have him back."

I'd like to see:

----------------------Reina--------------------
Johnson---Carra----------Zorba-----Aurelio
-------------Gerrard-------Mascherano-------
----Yossi----------------------------------Riera--
----------------Kuyt--------Torres---------------

We will see:

----------------------Reina-----------------------

Playing Carra and Zorba would leave us desperately vulnerable to Drogba's pace. While Skrtel isn't lightning quick, he's infinitely harder to run past than those two.

Last chance saloon for Carra and Skrtel I think before changes are made for the good of the side.

I just hope Chelsea don't murder us at setpieces.

That's true but I don't think we'll be pushing high up the park so we should be able to handle that.

It's Drogba's strength, ability to bring down any ball and Chelsea's overall aerial abilities that I'm more concerned about, and for that Zorba has so far looked the man for the job. Maybe I overestimate him - it's hard to tell based on the little we've seen of him, but the last thing a failing CB partnership needs is to face Anelka and Drogba at the Bridge. I think Carra and Skrtel have had long enough to turn it around.

I just got home and I'm pretty drunk, and this may be a bit over the top, but you have never ever contributed the least bit as far as analysis or cogent thought. I'm quite frankly surprised that you haven't banned yet. Every post of yours I read is like that aside from Billy Madison:

"Mr. Sven, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

I'd say it's a pretty unique skill that one could do this on such a frequent basis as you can. Well done sir.

And just so I don't clutter the thread with nonsense, I agree with Ryan, Riera must start for this game, and I think we need Gerrard in MF with Mascherano, with Yossi as 2nd striker. As bad as he's been, Carra def needs the start, and Skrtl should be alongside him. It's completely idiotic to throw Agger into this game after 68 minutes in the reserves. We would get skinned.

If Rafa plays Agger it means he's got absolutely zero faith in either Carra or skittles.

Ryan's spot on, Riera will definitely play. If he plays at his best he'll cause them problems too.

is a cock.

My biggest worry is set pieces. They murdered us at Anfield in the CL, and have exploited this before aswell.

I'm not against Agger playing actually, as he has dealt with Drogba before. But his lack of match practice is a big issue.
I'm guessing it will be the same defensive 4, and the last chance for Skrtel/Carra to step up. There have been signs in the last few games that we have gotten better control at set pieces, so let's hope we get get through this game without letting in an easy goal.

With Cech out, they miss his presence at the back, and that should give us an advantage in attack. Hopefully Torres can continue his excellent form.

My gut feeling says a draw.

This would be my team;

Reina
Johnson Carra Skrtel Insua

Kuyt Mascher Gerrard Riera

Benayoun

Torres

I think that'll be rafa's team with the exception of Aurelio at left-back.

Lovejoy now drinks ale instead of lager. Apprently this is "cool".

As someone once mentioned, there are more pictures of Lovejoy in his book of football history than there are of Nelson Mandela in Mandelas autobiography.
