I see the council have come out and said the same obstacles that where there 10 years ago when redeveloping anfield was on the agenda are still there today, and they won't approve redeveloping anfield.

EDIT: Neil you are taking a bit of unfair heat in this thread but give it a rest with the all the obvious questions/statements. You obviously understand the whole saga and in fairness only providing the doom and gloom 'what if' scenario but take a break dude.

We're going around in circles in this thread. We know Hick's stance, we know Broughton's stance, let's just wait for the judge to decide. We can't change anything now and tempers will flare with constant nit picking of the limited data we have at this point.

Okay, at the risk of sounding like Neil and asking questions constantly (I love you mate! Keep your chin up), what I don't get is that an article somebody posted earlier said that Hicks and Gilette have been frustrating and rejecting previous offers for the club? If that's the case why can't he just do the same again with this one? And with Broughton saying he is acting in the best interests of the club and Hicks isn't, then why didn't he do all this before when Hicks originally frustrated and rejected deals?

I think there would have been phantom bids before, that Kirdi was shit as was Huang. Broughton probably knew it would all result in a court battle thats why lawyers etc are invovled.

The other ones I can think of include DIC but that was before Broughton so doesnt count, the Kuwaiti ones were also interested apparently but then lots of reports at the time were about them wanting to get involved in building football centres over there or something rather than a stake in the club.

The other thing is not to discount the importance of the date everything happened, its something we were told about months and months ago and is obviously important in terms of the whole chess game being played out by Ayres, Brughton and Purslow.

Well yeah that makes sense if there were phantom bids, and unsuitable bids, but then Hicks rejecting wouldn't have been against the best interests of the club, right? It would have been for the clubs benefit. I can understand him not being able to reject after the deadline, but it hasn't been the deadline yet.

I don't really know what I'm talking about. I'm a bit confused.

If Broughton had tried to act as he has now when there were still months to go before RBS' repayment deadline, Hicks would have been able to say that he hadn't been given enough time to find a solution that suited all parties. By waiting until now Broughton has (a) made it pretty much impossible for Hicks to try and pull that one and (b) given Hicks more rope to hang himself, by rejecting other reasonable bids - not least the one Broughton now wants to accept.
