Let's talk about Spurs

Am I right in saying the financial outlay for Eriksen, Ali and Kane was less than £20M? Value for money wise it has to be one of the best attacks the league has seen.

We added £15M and signed a greasy, pisshead Donkey.
Yeah, Eriksen was brought in at £10M, Alli at £5M and Kane was picked up in Watford when he was only a kid so he counts as a homegrown I guess.

So that's a £15M outlay. For that trio.

When scouting works it can be rather handy, we should try it.

Never saw Walker as dirty ... Alli is a hot head but that's not how he normally plays, he just lashes out every few months.
Vertongen - yah he has a nasty streak in him ... but is portrayed as a clean player.
Nah Dembele is a cunt. Just watch him more closely ... he's a really good player, but he's still a cunt.

@rurikbird - did Klopp ever have 'tough as nails' midfielders like a wanyama or dembele @ dortmund?
Fair enough, I will, just checked his disciplinary stats though and he's on 6 yellows for the season. Not too bad for a defensive midfielder.

There you go then. The reason we are not competing for the title is we don't have enough cunts.

Spurs have wasted their fair share of cash aswell. So they're not some scouting Gods in all this. Janssen and Sissoko have been dreadful signings.

So much for Mane, Coutinho, Lallana and Firmino

Those stats are for all comps. Spurs have played more games than us this season. So, it makes sense they would have better numbers.

Spurs are kinda like our team that came second under Rafa in 2009(?) but not as talented. They're a good side but if they want to go up level, they'll need to fit another genuine goal threat into the side without wrecking its balance.

Of course they aren't but they've really done some smart business over the past few years. Aren't their NET spend pretty low as well?

What I am trying to say is, there is always an alternative to buy +£30M players from Southampton.. and if you really have to go there, then know that Spurs only paid them £11M for Wanyama!!

Wanyama only had 1 year left on his contract, as did Clyne when we signed him.

Yup, just like Casemiro has stayed on the pitch the last 3 games ... should have seen 3 reds ... 🙂
or Felliani and his elbows.

I'd love him on our team because he'd be our cunt then, but as that won't happen, he's a cunt.

Clyne was a decent buy, Wanyama would've been a great buy.

Someone from our setup, a scout, a director or manager failed to recognize him as someone we should be in for. One of many mistakes of the past and we have certainly looked a yard behind when it comes to spending money wisely and attracting the right players compared to Spurs. Is this even an argument?

Half the forum (cough) wanted Wanyama when his contract ran down and it became obvious he was on the move. Half here didn't want him at all. How much better would our midfield have been this year with him playing at DM ?

At the very least, better balanced.

Here's something to think about. Apply our long-term injury list to key players this season to the Spurs squad and think how their squad would have coped. Then apply their relatively kind run of injuries (they've had some, but all very short-term) and think how many points we'd have accumulated by now. Our positions would likely flip-flop. Also look at their penalty stats, systematic cheating runs through that side.

Pochettino some kind of genius my arse. He's won nothing in his management career. Nothing. And so far, any time he's been within a sniff of a trophy or championship his side has either lost their discipline or bottle.

No, not an argument. I wanted him when Soton bought him from Celtic.
25 mill for Wanyama and Van Dijk. Deary me, we could have had both...

I remember you did as well, and yeah that duo would've taken us a giant leap in the right direction at the time..

I would disagree with this to a degree. Spurs always have at least one and often more than one from Wanyama, Dembele and Dier in midfield. Two undeniable defence minded midfielders and another that is also more than useful in that regard. So there is your midfield protection for the defence and even with attack-minded full backs it rarely leaves them exposed.

I agree that Spurs play with a DM, however in my view (and this is very subjective) this is partly what makes them boring. The balance they currently have has, for the most part, worked for them in the EPL this season, but if they want to become a team that can really control and dominate big games and be successful in Europe, I think they need a real deep-lying playmaker rather than a Wanyama or Dier, who just offer "protection" but not much else.

Not quite like that, he had some tough characters in other positions (like LW Grosskreutz, Subotic at CB) and also club captain Sebastian Kehl who provided some leadership in midfield and the dressing room – but Klopp never relied on one or two players to "close down" the midfield – instead all 11 had to work very hard at the defensive side of the game.

Some signings just don't work out – that's part of the game. But I think in terms of overall transfer strategy it's hard to find a better example than Spurs, certainly in England. They buy well, grow well and sell well. I don't want us to emulate their football, but we should learn everything we can from their transfers.

This is the best all round and consistent Spurs team I've seen in my time following football from a league perspective.

A couple of things though. They're still 4 points behind Chelsea, and it seems like they are getting more plaudits. Their performances in the CL were abject, and they were in a group that was eminently easier to qualify from than most.

I wonder how Wembley next year will affect them as I suspect for big games, there will be far more away fans than would usually be there. Also, whilst they deserve to be above Arsenal, it's the first time in 22 years. If they aspire to that and achieve not much more, then that's akin to Arsenal qualifying for the CL every year but never winning it.

I used to feel sorry for Spurs fans because Arsenal fans behaved like "effete cunts". This past 18 months I've seen too many of them start to go the same way. They've won fuck all so far and to see some of their fans telling our fans we've never won the title in its modern format is, more than a bit rich.

Proof will be in the pudding. Thanks for helping us out yesterday but as @Oncy says, fuck 'em. Fuck 'em in the ear.

Incorrect, he had an agreement to stay at Southampton for another year as long as he was allowed to join Spurs the following year.
We were never getting him unless we got him directly from Celtic

Yeah, that whole "mind the gap" stuff that has come out these last few days are just horrendous. Arsenal have been in the Champions league 20 times in a row, and Arsene has had them challenging for most of the time. Spurs have been in the top 2 years and came 3rd in a two horse race last season.
Their cuntish fans should pipe the fuck down.

Anyone would think you guys have Spurs fans whispering into your ears 24/7.

Where are all these cuntish Spurs fans and why do you all care so much about them specifically?

Fans of EVERY other club are "cunts" (and those of our rivals moreso funnily enough).

I know loads of Spurs fans. A few of them are good sorts, the rest doesnt handle all that well that their team has been good for the past 2 years.

spurs fans are more annoying than most other fans. They are a notch up from Newcastle...............very little trophies won in 30 years but you wouldn’t think it.

I can no longer call Arsenal fans cunts because I enjoy watching Arsenal FanTV too much blud ... On a more serious level, I agree with you about other club fans being 'cunts,' but I'm far likely to let it go if they actually have a reason to be cunts fam ... Spurs, as of yet, don't ...

Now lt's continue to worship the great Poch, Eriksen (the only reason why I watch Spurs) & this amazing team! 🙂
