I hope whoever comes in does well, obviously, but it'll be nice when whoever it is has the opportunity to turn around and say "fuck you" to Roy, pissing on his notion that no one else would be able to get more from this squad.
Indeed.

What we needed was someone to come in, raise the spirits at the club, and remind the players that they're better than 7th place in the league. What we got is a manager who at every turn has sought to convince the players, and the fans, that this is the best we could have hoped for.

He's a fucking loser and if he's allowed to, he'll continue to transfer that mentality to the players.

Neil - strongly agree with the second line of your last post. The first, I'm afraid, is a load of hooey however often you repeat it.

Kenny. Doesn't. Want. The. Job. Permanently.

I dont understand people who say that now is not the time to bring in a new manager. Now IS the time as far as Im concerned. If they have identified Roy's replacement get him in now. Every day Roy is here we sink deeper into the shit

What if they've identified the right man but he's not available until the summer?
exactly.

if roy were spending the money in jan then absolutely get rid of him, but he isn't.

In fairness, and in response to your reply to JJ too, how do you know this^? It's more or less been said by Roy and NESV that if the right players are available for the right price, then we'll spend.

I can completely see why people want to get rid of roy right this very second but instability with us so close to the relagation zone makes me nervous.

Jack - mostly agree, though I kinda hope they haven't identified Roy's successor yet, because I want them to cast their net far wider than we did when we appointed him in the first place - it mustn't just be a matter of "take the best one out of whoever's available now". But that absolutely should NOT delay getting rid of Roy, who should immediately be replaced by the King till the new permanent guy arrives.
How come? They needed to get rid of him a while ago to avoid triggering the main payout clause in his contract. Now that that date has passed, I'm not sure how waiting till the summer will save them money

a competent manager (not excellent, just competent) would have had us challenging for the league never mind 4th place.
We're not good enough Neil, the squad certainly isn't and when you throw in injuries and ageing players...
we probably would fall away come march/april but now in dec we'd be in the mix. the top teams have been dropping points left and right and but for our frankly disgracful away record we'd be up there.
1 away win all season? blackpool have more away wins.
I'm with you Neil here. A better manager would have us in the mix for the top 4 by now with the way other teams have been playing.

The clause was just a rumour. None of us know the details of his contract. But I think it is fair to assume that the cost of sacking him might be related to his performance over a season. This is obviously just speculation, but while we are tearing our hair out screaming "WHY ISNT HE SACKED YET OMGGGG" the explanation could very well be something mundane and boring like money.

I mean, what is the difference between finishing 7th and 12th in terms of £?

Every league placing is .5 million isn't it?

Finishing 12th or finishing 6th is worth 3 million alone, plus the bonus off Europa, finishing 12th and finishing 4th is a dream we need to come true, Roy won't fulfill that dream, fuck the silly old duffer off now, the rise in premier league placings will pay for it.

All this 'Get Kenny back' irks me, he hasn't managed in the Premiership for over 10 years, what's to say he'll get more out of these players than Roy? He wont... End of... And to bring him back runs the risk of losing his legendary status.
All this "he hasn't managed in the Premiership for over 10 years" is what irks me. So what if he hasn't? Some folks keep parroting this but never get as far as Word 1 of an explanation why it makes any difference. The man himself doesn't think it rules him out, and that's good enough for me.
The game has changed and Dalglish's record as a manager since Blackburn is not particularly good.

Dalglish would mitovate you & me... he'd motivate Gerrard & Carragher... Torres & Riena would respect him... but what's he going to do different than Roy... really...

When he last managed... did he deal with international "megstars" & their agents or even fringe rap-star Dutchmen

He made a pigs arse of the Celtic job & fell out with Ginola at Newcastle befire taking them from 2nd to 13th & got sacked from both jobs.

It's like being delighted about re-signing Robbie Fowler and then realising he was absoluitely fucking shite compared to the player he once was.

If the only good from appointing Dalglish as manager is that Roy gets the boot... then we'd be better served putting Sammy Lee in there until the end of the season.

I thought Meireles was a recommendation by the scouting department? Didn't Hodgson say he 'didn't know much about the player' when we signed him? Evidenced by the fact that he played him at right wing for a good stretch of games.

roy knew all about poulsen and konchesky on the other hand. it would appear as though him making blind decisions gives us some hope of success. its the part when he applies his 35yrs of knowledge and experience when things go wrong.

now that i think about it, he would be better off dead, and someone to just operate his limbs like that film, a weekend and bernies. ah yes, a season at budgies

I've never agreed that it was the interest payments that were killing us, if they were then we should have the ability to have a huge positive net spend on transfers. Upwards of 40m this year alone.

Does anyone believe it will happen?

Hansernwhen you say you think they'll invest in the club, do you think they'll put their own outside money in?
I think they will yes. But long term I think they want the club to make enough revneue to have a very good transfer budget each season. I've read a couple of places that there a lot of very interesting things happening behind the scenes that will ensure us that this can happen in the future. Ian Ayre and his team had something like an 83 % increase this year on the marketing side. There is a lot of potential out there to say the least.
I don't believe for one second that that would be the only good result of appointing the King. What'll he do differently from Roy? Motivate the players and get them asserting themselves, instead of following Roy's example and apologising for being on the same pitch as their opponents. As I've already accepted (more than once) - yes, there is a risk involved. However, if you think it's comparable to the risk of leaving Roy struggling on, I want lots of whatever you last smoked.

because there's shit all over the floor. and while we have roy here we may as well use his fat saggy body to wipe up as much of it as we can. then at the end of the season we can fire him, throwing out a shit-stained hodgson. if if fire him now he will undoubtedly blame the board's lack of patience, the squad, benitez and every other excuse his delluded failing mind can come up with to dump more shit on the club
