Leicester For The Title?

Haha Spurs. Slim chance has all but died after that draw. Leicester to win it at Old Traford would be nice

Well when those Manc Scums were winning the title year after year - they were calling Old Toilet - "The Theatre of Dreams" - so I guess it's only right they do.

I guess that draw against West Brom at Anfield was well earned then.

Will be nice to Utd fans watching another side life the trophy Sunday.

All over red rover.

What season by Vardy and co.

Completely deserved, such an amazing achievement.

This season has really demonstrated that I may not even really like this game at all in any conventional sense.

I'll be glad if Leicester win in that they are one of the only teams who could have won it that I don't despise. But even that ultimate cinderella story, I resent, precisely because they remove an excuse for failure I've begun to accept over these many years.

I won't take a bit of joy in them winning. I haven't enjoyed this huge story that has so dominated general interest in football, because I seemingly don't have any. And I'll grow to hate them, if I can't avoid the scenes, that's how petty I am. I couldn't even enjoy the world cup after we lost the title.

I will like you, avoid football websites and shows for a few weeks after Leicester's victory. I dont think I will be able to watch or read about their victory celebrations.

But I am actually delighted for Leicester to win the league. It has demonstrated and underlined how poor we have been over the last 20 years. It is almost as if as a club we go searching for reasons not to challenge for the league. Qualifying for the Champions League has been the be all and end all of our ownership and management. In the rare event we qualify for it, we treat it as a great achievement.

Given the competition in the league, the only way we are qualifying for champions league, is by taking a shot at the premier league title. Plan for fourth and we are most likely to finish sixth or seventh.

The only solace we can get from this is that, it could be worse. Spurs winning it would be an even bigger media wank.

I don't begrudge or despise Leicester winning the title, in fact in a season when the top sides have all fallen on their swords due to one reason or another, it's wonderful that we have a Cinderella season for Leicester. The romance of football. We've done this earlier in the thread but it was an incredibly unlikely series of events that has led to them winning the title, and Spurs running them close, and one that is most certainly unlikely to be repeated for a very long time.

I also don't draw any miserable conclusions or parallels between this and our failure to win the title for 25 years, mostly against a Ferguson led United, Arsenal in their pomp, City at their recent peak and a Chelsea team that also won the CL. Of course there were failures but we were also a little unlucky, e.g. a slip and an absent Hendo for FFS derailing us.

Spurs aren't as good as the wankathon I've seen on here at times either. Kane is, Alli is, and maybe even Loris, but most of the rest of team aren't that exceptional, even Erikson is an inferior version of Coutinho, and just as inconsistent. They've just played consistently as a team whilst those around them went into crisis.
People will say that Spurs played a weakened team vs. Dortmund, but it wasn't that weakened, we have never capitulated like that when playing a much changed team, even against Real Madrid. Those two spankings demonstrated for me that Spurs are far from being a top side and far from having a squad that can challenge in the CL or even the PL again, next season (where they will probably be back in the fight for Top 4 rather than fighting for the title).

Spurs' two teams vs. Dortmund

(A) Lloris (C), Trippier, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Davies; Carroll, Mason; Onomah, Chadli (Dembele 58), Eriksen (Lamela 65); Son (Kane 76)

(H) Lloris (c), Trippier, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Davies; Dier, Mason; Chadli, Alli, Lamela; Son

There aren't many likeable players in Leicester's team, in spite of the media efforts to suggest otherwise, but I'll be delighted for Ranieri, a genuinely nice man. He's the real lesson to be learned: a manager who has won without resorting to any of the tiresome snipes and spats that Ginsoak and Mourinho laid down as a template.

I'm absolutely delighted they're going to win it. Apart from anything else it's going to be a great event in the history of the league and I wanted to witness it once it became a possibility.

I've been following their games almost like a fan for a few weeks now.

There aren't many likeable players in *any* team, personal bias notwithstanding

Morgan seems like a decent chap.

Like most people, I like players who are reasonably erudite, thoughtful and seem decent, but lots of modern players seem rather brash, unpleasant, crass, thick as fuck and generally pig-ignorant.

Juan Mata. He's a likeable fella. Shame he's played for two of my most hated teams

So what did Leicester plan for at the start of the season?

All of this is entirely normal.

I want Leicester to win simply because they're a least worse option than anyone else, and I don't hate them as much as clubs like Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, City or United.

I won't take any pleasure in it. Fuck that, as if.

Bunch of lucky, inbred chancers

Morgan does seem sound in any interview I've read with him. Given where he's spent most of his career, he definitely appreciates what is happening. I reckon Kante, Okazaki and Mahrez are sound too.

Morgan's one of the nastiest, dirtiest cloggers in the Prem. He and Huth have got away with near-murder at times this season. They haven't been the only ones of course, but let's not get too starry-eyed about them.

I don't mind players being a bit rough. I don't remember him elbowing anyone or stamping or anything of that nature. Him being a clogger is of no consequence to me.

You see his comments on modern football yesterday? Guy belongs to a different era.

I have now, yeah. Class act. I think sometimes players from Europe like him, Alonso, Garcia, Kuyt, De Gea, Zenden - the list is huge - seem more mature, intelligent and thoughtful.

Lots of our own UK players appear thuggish, stupid and culturally unaware at similar ages, and mature a bit later (if at all). Even someone like Lampard, who was always a bright and diligent person, only shrugged off that persona when he was into his late 20s.

I still can't believe Leicester City Football Club are going to be crowned champions.

Its fucking ridiculous that its going to happen!

Ranieri is a genius, and so are his players....

Will Ranieri retire on top now when he did the impossible, or will he be tempted to take this team to CL?

Is this supposed to be a joke? Ranieri isn't going to retire. Why would he, considering it's the first time in his decades of management he might actually achieve something genuinely noteworthy.

He's not some kind of "lost genius". He's managed Rome, Juve, Inter, Chelsea, Valencia and Parma, and won FUCK ALL with any of them. It's the reason he's Leicester manager at the age of 64.

Christ.

Will be funny if the Chelsea players have to give them a guard of honour for winning the league. Seeing as Abramovitch fired Ranieri because he would never win it..

Are you suggesting that ranieri would have achieved any thing comparable to Mourinho and co if he stayed at Chelsea ?

The risk of a huge backfire with a team that can loose major assets to "bigger" Clubs. It is impossible to repeat this season With Leicester.... I am not sure. I think he will stay on, however I wouldnt put my Money on him being the Leicester manager Next season.

Your arguments is building up a case of him leaving as well as him staying.
