So we've attempted to sign Clichy, Jones and Wickham, all to no avail. Does this mean we are still in the market for players for these three positions, regardless of sales?

If so who do you want/think we'll get in these positions?

Left Back - Cissokho/Enrique
Centre Back - Cahill/Dann
Striker - Aguero/Doyle

Deluded I may be, but I believe we'll buy Cissiskho and Mata and that'll be it. Maybe a cheap and cheerful centre back.

If we were bidding for these types of players a few weeks ago i'm sure we'll be doing our best to fill the positions. Or do you think the money paid out since will have an affect?
 
Fuck no,I'm not playing.

The last time I started a 'Three Players' thread we ended up paying 45 million for Henderson,Adam and Downing.

I think management underestimated the task of selling the deadwood.

Before City we should have saved the money we just spent on Carroll, Downing and henderson and made a juicy bid for Aguero.

We didn't and we wont now so forget about Aguero... its way too hopeful.... although it would have fit in better to FSG modus operandi than Downing!!

Fuck Doyle.

In fact I suspect unless we sell, and having overspent/paid so massively already, we will not be buying anybody exciting at least not this season. If we can make it into the CL next year then I would hope we buy some real genuine quality next time.
 
it's an interesting one as it really seems that we showed alot of interest in those players ....yet for some reason I feel our big spending is done . But if so that wouldn't make much sense unless the budget was allocated differently as the weeks went on , e.g ...they decided to spend more on downing than originally expected so will not pursue a left back now. Or maybe we were expecting to have shifted more players out to finance some deals and things are on hold until we do .

I'll be really impressed with the owners if we make any further big signings , it's near 45m already and we've still aquilani , cole , poulsen etc on the wage bill .

because he an play in any position up front and can also play in a wide position but the signing of downing has effectively killed off that signing (you'd think).

Why on earth would Aguero leave a 2nd tier Spanish team who have failed to qualify for the CL in the last two years to join a 2nd tier English side who have failed to qualify for the CL in the last two years? I suspect, on balance, he'd prefer to stay in Madrid given that choice.

If we assume Downing, Henderson and Adam were always part of the plan, albeit the fees might have been slightly higher, then we have to assume that the three options of left/centre back and striker are still viable. I cant imagine paying a couple of extra million for Downing is going to scupper these plans!

Wishful thinking maybe but I still think we've a bit of business to do.

So we'd buy him for his versitality or a specifik position (where in that case)?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love us to sign Mata but I can't see it happening (considering our signings).
