Easy, because we're going to win the CL this season .. so I wouldn't mind giving it up for one season just to shut the Mancs up 😉
So literally what was the point of your argument in the other thread that. To be contrary to Brendan?

Of course. There's almost nothing more entertaining that getting Brendan going on one of his righteous rants.*

* And of course in most seasons I stand by the CL as the more important trophy. Which is pretty much without question, preference is very personal and to each his / her own.

We occasionally like to say 'we're back'. I'm sure I've read it on here in the last couple of days. Are we shit. We'll be back when we win the league again...although I'll take the odd shitty European Cup win along the way!

No debate needed. Regardless of winning or losing the CL this season, it's League every time for me.
Until we have another half a dozen or so league titles, this will always be the answer for me.

Stand over there in a pool of your own wrongness.

Ah well that's me told then !

Yeah Froggy, it's league EVERY TIME for Liverpool fans as we've been waiting so long to win it. Current City fans would pick CL over league title as it's the CL trophy they now covet. But for us, it's league!!!

Time goes by so fast I hardly notice the years it seems - doesn't seem THAT long ago 😉

Easy poll. Make it FA Cup vs Champions League and I reckon it'll be a closer call.
Nah, Champions League over FA cup.

At the moment I reckon it's this:
League > Champions League > Europa League (or whatever the fuck it's called) > FA cup > League cup (or whatever the fuck it's called)

What if it's a victory you later want to exorcise?

I guess you're being deliberately disingenuous, which is a bit sad. Let me make it even clearer: I'm trained to think dispassionately about things. That doesn't stop me enjoying them, but I also can't avoid analysing them dispassionately, too. Do you follow? So while I walk around with a huge smile on my face whenever we win anything, however we win something, I also never ignore an honest assessment of the performance. I thought that was a fairly common northern trait, and Scouse trait, maybe things have changed. Now people on here today seem to conflate the whole experience of travelling to a final, being at a final, enjoying the result of a final, with the performance. I don't. That's not actually a crime. We can win and also play well, and we can win and play so-so, and we can win and play badly. I celebrate the win, but I don't delude myself that every win was also the product of a great performance. That isn't dismissing the win, denigrating the win or denying the win. It's just being honest. You don't get that? Fine. Absolutely fine. You want to manipulate and misrepresent it? Very, very sad, but it's your life. Go to fucking hell.

Premier League for me as well, but I do agree with the point somebody made that in terms of global visibility CL can be greater: that's why clubs like Man City and PSG are so desperate to win it (and failing year after year) and why, say, Leicester is not considered a global superpower even after winning the league. I think both league and CL success are required steps for us to true return to prominence; league to show consistency and quality, CL to show ability to beat best of the best in elimination games.

Hmmmm...

There is history here, right? Cos, that is one massive over-reaction (particularly for a dispassionate analyser), if not.

"That isn't dismissing the win, denigrating the win or denying the win"

Hahahahahahaha!

"This team is a thousand times better than that bunch of fools who won in 2005 and ludicrously keep getting eulogised for fluking a win"

"They were shameful. I want them exorcised"

"They didn't (deserve to win) they were shite"

"They were shite. Dream on if you think otherwise. This team can play football. I'm not a Newcastle supporter. I want us to win in style. I saw us do it three and a bit times before"

"I want to exorcise 05, when we acted (and thanks acting like local planks like Dave Kirby, still keep acting) like Leicester"
