He clearly did wonders motivating the Rangers' players – they were suddenly very tough to beat even by technically superior teams in Europe. I think he is a very similar type to Blokhin (former Dynamo Kyiv Ballon d'Or winner who became the Ukraine national team coach) – a difficult personality, but can do very well in a limited type of a job.
I'd agree with that. The Rangers' players did respond well, but it suited Gerrard being a big fish in a small pond because he's less likely to find rivals to his ego, at least over the short term. I think he'll need to find some humility and improve his people skills if he wants to broaden his horizons.

I really hope they get Rooney
He would be a disaster for them, but I would worry they may get a bit of a new manager bounce from him (like scum did from Ole) that would be enough for them to survive. We need them to appoint someone who won't inspire a bounce ... maybe agent Benitez can come back

Bielsa trying to play his style with that crop or players sounds like the worst match ever.

The only upside to firing Fwank now is that it maybe a little too late, they should have done it earlier this month.
Hopefully it'll take a few days to make the new manager appointment and by then the transfer window will have closed and he'll have the same bunch of under-performers to see them through to the end of the season ... and relegation (though they'll come straight back up the next season).

There are times when cool detachment is the best way forward, yesterday for example when I had lunch with a Manc pal and had to take assorted jibes on the chin.

Ancelotti left Everton for Madrid. Which the Ev fans found mind boggling. I still find it mind boggling they had a manager of that quality.

Goes without saying but it was all about the £14M a year in his pocket. It was one of the highest salaries in the game at the time.

It wasn't the prospect of coaching Pickford, Coleman and the likes? The supporters who frighten their own team much more than any opposition? The 'original features' of their grand old stadium? Really? You think it was about the money?
