I agree with you on this, but I have my doubts that Lamela is actually available. Roma have no real reason to sell, and I think they can do better than the quoted fee.

Tottenham remain interested in Osvaldo and could push harder if the Gazzetta dello Sport’s claims are true.

The ‘pink paper’ maintains this morning that Spurs’ primary target Lamela will be taken off the market and given a contract renewal.

Roma had been tempted by the €35m offer, but Lamela’s agent reportedly told the club he would prefer to remain in Italy with improved wages.

‘El Coco’ currently earns only €1.2m per season, so that is considerably less than the €4m proposed by Tottenham.

If Osvaldo is sold for €13m to Southampton, then Roma would be less inclined to part with Lamela, particularly as he is a fan favourite compared to the unpopular Italy international.

Roma’s directors have been in London for talks with Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini, as Spurs have reportedly made offers for Lamela, Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Pjanic.

“This is a match day, so I will only answer questions relating to the match,” Garcia told journalists.

“We will be stronger if we keep the current squad, but we’ll have to wait and see with regards to the future.”
