Lallana Out for a Month

Go 4-2-3-1, that also makes us more solid defensively.

-------------Mignolet
Clyne--Matip--Lovren--Milner
---------Can--Wijnaldum
---Mane--Firmino--Coutinho
--------------Origi

Feels even worse when you see pictures of him going in to half time holding his thigh as he is in pain. Which means at least 2 of those weeks could have been avoided, if England, once again, has handled this correctly.

Hope Klopp tears them a new one

I blame the player in these situations too. He felt pain, so he should have made it clear that he couldn't play any further part in the game. Like McCarthy, who decided not to risk playing before the Ireland game when he felt tightness in his muscle.

I like Hansern's idea of playing Coutinho centrally behind Firmino better.

---Mane----Coutinho----Origi
---------------Firmino

This could work really well.

I'm not sure that conclusion is correct

Amazing how many times Lallana is slagged off on this very forum. And now he's out....

I wonder if there is any difference in the likelihood of a player getting injured for club vs country.

The perception is that it feels like more (perhaps due to attention and frustration levels) but would be interesting to see what the data says.

Speculation at best I know, but that type of injury would only have gotten worse during the second half. The injury period could of course still be the same.

Absolutely, should have done that. Its purely speculation from my part in regards to how long he would have been out for, but as a precaution he should have been subbed off.

This is the pic from half time, that seemingly has gotten a lot of people upset.

We don't even know what the injury is - it sounds like it was a knock. So probably soft tissue damage - bruising, dead leg ... etc etc. You might be able to reduce some inflammation more quickly by taking him off earlier but the damage was already done. So playing him longer is only a problem because he couldn't stick an ice pack on it. Presumably he received treatment at half time.

The club haven't confirmed how long he is out either. A month sounds too much from the very limited info available.

Lallana not playing is a huge loss.

When he doesn't play we lose a load of impetus because whoever replaces him doesn't press as well, cover as much ground & can't play he quick pass in tight spaces.

This could fuck us right up.

Thought it was reported as a strain. If its only a knock, I agree completely.
According to the Guardian:

He received a kick on the thigh in the latter match, however, and found he was unable to train with his Liverpool team‑mates on Tuesday. While the club have not put a timescale on Lallana’s recovery, there are concerns he could be out for up to a month.

Lallana was running around like his life his dependent on playing for England. He obviously to impress the manager……

Ah, thanks. A month sounds like a very long time if thats the reason for the injury. Will be interesting to hear the when then club makes a comment. We can hope that he'll be back quicker.

Nah we'll be reet fella. I fancy a punt on a juicy 3-0. Time for The Magician to step up and I reckon Mane is going to tear them a new one without Coleman there.

Lallana knew he was injured and complained about it at half time. Southgate should have taken him off but also Lallana should have refused to go out and play injured. He's also bloody culpable.

Frustrating.

Should ask Lallana the same after the City game...

Whatever makes you happy Modo. He's helped win more points this season than he's had a hand in us losing, hes had a good season, Coutinho and Firmino have missed a truckload of sitters between them too this season. Not that you'd acknowledge that, or his good form, the only time you have something to say about Lallana is when he has a bad game or fucks up. Which is a rarity these days. You must be gutted.
