It's £1 mill.more than they'd have offered if they'd agreed with you, Del.
Eh? I never said he was worth nothing. I simply said that he didn't have a successful stint in Greece. Which he didn't. Are you suggesting that a fee of £1m says otherwise?
I'm saying Olympiakos clearly think he did (£1 mill.may be relative chickenfeed, but nobody's going to pay even that much for a player they don't consider successful enough) and I'll take their view over either of ours.

I don't know what point you're trying to make JJ. I said he didn't have a successful spell in Greece. You seem to be arguing that Olympiakos think he did, therefore he did. Which of course, is bollocks. I would suggest that their (solitary) £1m bid for him does not in itself indicate success. In fact, it's more likely to suggest that they saw something in him worth taking a 'punt' on. Something that AEK obviously didn't, given that they showed no interest in extending his stay with them.

Whatever though, you seem to want to make an issue of it, so I'll let you get on with it.

What the stats don't show is the numerous assists he did and the chances he created. AEK Athens fans loved him.

What a shitty deal. If he was English moving to an English club we'd probably get £5 Million for him.
We wouldn't.

I´m pleased that we are selling out the dead wood. I´m expecting a massive goalkeeper-clear out soon.

Olympiakos have confirmed the signing of Liverpool striker Krisztian Nemeth.

The Hungarian was on loan at rivals AEK Athens last season scoring three goals in 17 games and has sufficiently impressed the Greek giants.

The 21-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move to the club throughout the summer, follows in the footsteps of Albert Riera, who moved to the Karaiskakis Stadium in July from Merseyside.

Nemeth moves in a 1.3million euro deal, with the Reds set to take 25% of a sale should the striker move on and will undergo a medical on Saturday.

[€1.3 = £1,065,000]

"Olympiakos C.F.P announces a deal with Liverpool for the acquisition of Hungarian international player, Krisztian Nemeth, who will sign a three-year contact with the club," the Piraeus team announced.

It's all gone very wrong very quickly for him here

He used to excite me.

Sorry for bumping up such an old thread. Surprised to have read that he's currently unattached, after being released by Olympiakos. No 25% sell on fee for us then. :-[

Ross will not like you bumping old threads!
It's item number one on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting I believe :🙂

If nothing else, a decent exercise for us all in managing expectations of players who bang in a couple of goals in the reserves.

Page 1 - compared to Fowler, Trezeguet, Henry etc.

Page 2 - no clubs in World Football want him

I heard that if you wish to change the groups topic of conversation tomorrow you need to wave a piece of paper in the air and shout 'Point of Order' before you starting your new topic.

Well, I got this one well wrong. From what I'd managed to see of him, I really thought this lad had what it takes.

Re: Krisztian Nemeth eager to play and help rejuvenate Anfield

I thought he was gash

*refuses to acknowledge any previous post on the subject *

It wasn't your turn to speak.

Basically it's like this - look at the forum - does the thread look like it should be there ? It's completely irrelevant. It's 18 months old. We all know Nemeth isn't at Anfield and won't rejuvenate us.

The main issue is that the forum is on its arse at the moment, and we need to encourage people to post. New threads are consistently much more posted in than old irrelevant threads, which people simply look at wonder "wtf is this doing here" and move on.

I don't think the forum is on its arse, but either way, old thread bumping has got nothing to do with it.

That fucking RAWK place is heaving and it seemed to be loads or really old really massive threads.

More serious answer is why on earth would Olympiakos pay up his contract two years early?

It seems he was only with the club for 6 months and played 3 times (only once from the start) before being packed off on loan to the similar sounding Olympiacos Volos.

At the end of the season Olympiacos Volos were demoted to the equivalent of the Conference in a match fixing scandal.

Wow!

I'm currently reading Carra's book and he says he can't wait to see Nemeth and Pacheco banging the goals in for Liverpool as our next strike partnership... He also states its great how players like Torres/Masch 'get' the club and its values...

Another glowing advertisement for young foreign "starlets" to steer clear from joining us.

Or he wasn't good enough in the first place.

He was never the same player after the injury he got in his second season with us.

Fucking class. I'm yet to read a football biog from or about anyone who wasn't long retired. None of Kenny's tomes either. This is why.
