Koeman Sacked

Yeah, Xavi has apparently been excellent with his Qatar side, and won a bunch of stuff with them.

From what I know, I am not sure I would use excellent to describe his tenure at Al-Saad. He had the best team in the league by far and he won the league at his second attempt. In the Asian Champions league, his performance has been not that great despite having a very good squad. He is the logical fit in the Cruyff, Pep mould though.

Without doubt, Xavi was one of the most aware footballers that I have ever seen play the game. I have no doubt that he reads the match exquisitely. But the real trick is finding the players who can follow along with it, understand the importance of this information, and apply their knowledge within the game. Most footballers are as thick as pig shit.

This was my fear with Gerrard. That what was easy for him would be too hard for his players. And, I always felt that Gerrard played by instinct, which would make it hard for him to teach others how he “sees” the game.

But, he seems to do well and Xavi actually always seemed a more thoughtful vs instinctive player. I think Xabi is in that camp too.

Xabi isn’t getting the best results at sociadad B. I haven’t a clue where they expect to be or anything about the ins/outs of his time there.

Brave or stupid not sure which? The environment is toxic, coupled with Championship level financing. How do they stick to an annual salary of £85m and expect to get top 4?

Fair enough, can't say I'm too familiar with football there, but he does seem to have won stuff and apparently plays nice football. Could of course be that they are far and away the richest team or something and are expected to win anyway.

Xavi will be good for Barcelona, I think. For all the mitigating financial mess around him, Koeman was a huge part of the problem as well. His team has played as badly as his Everton team from a few years ago— there was some truly awful fare on display recently at Rayo Vallecano. It much better in the previous matches, either.

Being Head Coach or Manager may be a stressful job but how many other jobs do you get pay for being sacked? 😛
