Klopp Signs a Six Year Deal

"Liverpool have taken the decision first and foremost because they do not believe there is a manager who is more in tune with how the club should be run – or has more empathy for the ethos of Liverpool as a club and city."

Cant disagree with that.

Not sure how to read this. In a way it is good news. But I hope the job doesnt become too much for him when he is stretched in all directions. At Dortmund, the team of CEO and DOF along with Klopp worked in tandem. I hope we surround him with good football people.

This gives him the best chance of success. We have to back our best asset and trust him. Our managers tend to go a bit weird and mental around season 4 so I just hope the owners are savvy enough to pay someone to start watching him in the future.

If he starts wearing odd socks or talking about lamps then we need to send down the guillotine fast. I get the impression Klopps weird mental breakdown will be more spectacular than all the others combined. Fun times ahead.

The continuity in terms of backroom and academy staff is certainly as important as Klopp's.

In the space of 8 years, the likes of Piet Hamberg, Frank McParland, Pep Segura, Rodolfo Borrell etc. have come and go - definitely doesn't help with the implementation of any blueprint.

Might also play a part in winning the race for young players - you know you'll be signing for a manager who believes in you and will be there to nurture your talent.

Agree with @keniget too. Really looking forward to a capable replacement for Ian Ayre. Here's hoping the board can replace Ayre the same way they did with Rodgers.

Good analogy about the new contract being similar to getting awarded a penalty - still job to be done.

UH oh, Brexit trouble now on the Klopp extension.

EU COURTS MAY RULE AGAINST KLOPP EXTENSION

The Mirror Reports on the Latest Euro Outrage

The ink wasn't dry on the new Klopp deal, when the ECJ analysts weighed on the Jurgen Klopp extension today citing the agreement null and void past 2017, when Klopp becomes an EU alien in the new British system of law.

Under expected UK Rules, Klopp will have to apply to stay with Liverpool through the immigration courts, and must have at least two trophies under his belt with the Club, similar to the player rule, where the non EU player must be a proven international to get a permit. The ruling, will revert to the lower court where Judge Jules will preside. Link: Klopp in EU Employment Law Trouble

This is interesting:

Throwaway line from Klopp post-match was club thinking about building new academy or joining academy/Melwood together. No specific details

Say what you will about FSG - I think they have been good for us in terms of giving us financial stability. But I actually appreciate their ruthlessness in the way they are expecting a level of success from the management appointments. Kenny and Rodgers were dismissed when it was found that the team had not progressed after the purchases so they got rid. In the past we would have waited and waited until things got worse - but we are thinking like a club of stature should do when things don't go well and changes need to be made in management. I like that - and despite being depressed at losing 2 cup finals under Klopp and having my doubts - I totally get the fact that he is in tune with what and how FSG want to take the club forward - it is a good match and they are right in probably thinking that Klopp is the only manager that can do this for them.

Despite my doubts about Klopp - I know for sure the following:-

1) He is not full of shit after we lose. Knows and says what the problems are.
2) Gives players the chance to develop - that could potentially save us money and develop the talent we have.
3) Wont' resort to pragmatic shit in a game when we need to attack and score - don't keep us waiting fucking go for it you c*nts.
4) I think his very presence (being a big guy with big heart, and emotions) - just makes us feel good as LFC fans - don't you all agree ? - the mood changed when he came, and despite the upsets and losses of last season - each game was greeted with excitement coz you just knew we would go for it. In many ways the Semi-Final of France vs Germany the other day where Germany lost - was quite representative of our season as a whole.

Leaving aside the fact that the link took me to some story about Paris Hilton (! 😀), this report is very confused. The headline prattles about "EU courts" but the text refers to the time when the UK will no longer be bound by them. In any case legislation in this country isn't retrospective, so I can't see how any future new rules would be allowed to bite retrospectively on contracts lawfully entered into before those rules came in.

In summary, this court calls bullsh!t on the report in question. Case dismissed.

Klopp is the best thing at our club. Players, coaches, owners, gardeners whatever.
That's either good news or bad, not sure.
Regardless, extend his contract please.
