Stories going around that we offered 30 million, but Bayern wants 42 million.
Right age, right talent and a good friend to help Mbappe settle.

Liverpool are reportedly in the market for a new forward this summer and have identified Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman as a target.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who boldly claim the Reds are ‘plotting a swoop’ for the France winger.
ORE: European side make contact with Liverpool star; hope to sign 29-year-old after Euro 2020 – report
But a tip by the significantly more reputable Gazzetta dello Sport (as per beIN Sports) states Liverpool have submitted a bid of £30 million for the 25-year-old.
The same report claims Bayern Munich have informed the Premier League side they’ll need to increase their offer by £12 million to sign Coman.

The Frenchman’s agent is said to be pushing for a new contract at the Allianz Arena – with 24 months left on his client’s current deal – but the Bundesliga juggernauts aren’t as enthusiastic.

I don't mind Coman but he's always been hit and miss. For £42m (if any truth) then I think we'd be better off looking elsewhere.

I think this is just a new contract ploy by Coman's camp.
With Mbappe also a pipe dream, I reckon Malen might be our lad.
Dortmund will have lots of cash, and there will be quite some movement in the strikers market this summer, so there will be competition.

Serial trophy winner - we will wean him of such bad habits if he comes here.

Is he any good? I haven't been that impressed with him but I have only watched him for a couple of games.

He’s always struck me as a bit hit and miss too. Never quite established himself as a week in week out starter.

Liked him a lot for a few seasons. Dangerous player but not consistent as I guess per most players of his ilk.

Many of the criticisms on here were also said of Mane at Southampton, and Coman has the advantage of already playing at highly pressured club with insane expectations.

Like Mane he can cover either side. Anything close to £35m would be a decent deal.

Again, no chance. We're saving up for John McGinn and the next Van Den Berg.

He's never scored more than 6 league goals in a season whereas Mane had easily his worst season for us last year when the team were largely shite and still managed 11 league goals. Doesn't look like he could replace or cover any of our front players adequately for me.

Yep , seems ultimate hot and cold player wheneve I've seen him , which admittedly is just eh champions League. Feels like he's been playing forever so even at his age he brings a winning pedigree and experience but it just feels like a gamble , not sure we've made any high profile gambles during klopp/Edwards era

I feel like he averages 4/5 injury spells during each season he's played. Which would hardly have helped us last season given the clubs approach to injury management is seemingly about as cautious as any club could be

I think his wage demands are 250k at Bayern. No chance we offer that to him, so this is unrealistic.

If we want a winger, Raphinha is far more likely.

Is he not a real shitebag outside of football? I’d rather not for that reason alone

I don't think the Mane comparison works. Mane was 24 and we took him hoping that he could make the step up and shine on a bigger stage.

Coman has been at PSG, Juventus and Bayern and hasn't quite maximised his talent. Whether that is down to injuries - which have been numerous - or other factors I don't know - don't follow the Bundesliga or Serie A enough to know.

I'd maybe be interested if he was coming with the aim of taking his game to the next level but if his goal is getting 250K a week or whatever then it only really makes sense for a club like PSG, City or Chelsea.

I wonder if we can structure a deal that could match current wages if we win trophies - ie link to team not individual performance
