Woke up today to facebook, twitter and the red tops all talking about this cunt on talksport..

Apparently he intimated/suggested the above was the reason for the heysel disaster.

Apparently the fans were 'looking for revenge the next time they were playing an Italian team'

What an absute cunt. absolute liability for any media outlet too.

*I didn't hear the interview so I don't know if the full extent of his cuntiness comes across.

He's been told to do shit like that i reckon. Making a career out of fucking up his career. Search google for "keys hysel" and the first result is...

Richard Keys is a cunt - Part 23... His views on Heysel. - The ...18 posts - 7 authors - Last post: 8 hours ago
The fucking twat. RICHARD Keys has sparked more outrage by accusing Liverpool fans of seeking revenge before the Heysel Stadium disaster. Richard.

Fair play to the liverpool way. 23 pages and it's not in brekkie.

Appaz Gray and Grobbelaar were talkin abaa it and Keys butted in with his comment. Dunno whether Grobbelaar sparked him or not like.

It's on 10am-1pm.

Lets be clear, Keys is a first class tosser and a prick.

To suggest that it was 'payback' is nothing short of disgusting.

But tbh Liverpool fans WERE very badly treated in Rome the year before, and its really hard to dismiss that as a contributory factor behind the crowd trouble; which was doubly sad because Turin was ecstatic with Rome's defeat.

Someone should remind the cunt that the deaths were caused by a collapsing wall tho, not fans 'looking for revenge'.

Wanker.

An that at the time we had the national fucking front following us around europe causing shit at every game. I weren't there like but me da was like.

I'd say a bigger contributory factor was the cunts at UEFA rejecting the report we did on the dilapidated shithole saying that the stadium wasn't fit to hold the match and it should be played elsewhere. I bet the absurd prick that is Keys doesn't even know stuff like that, someone should decapitate the fucker and stick his head on a pike.

Liverpool fans played a big part in that tragedy - that much cannot be denied. So did Juventus fans though. Neither set of fans should act like they're blameless as they all contributed to this tragedy along with other factors such as the state of the stadium.

Even worse, I'll bet he does know (the hairy ape used to work for Radio City) but didn't give a monkey's.

The FA did exactly the same over Hillsborough BTW after trouble was narrowly averted under similar circs.the year before the tragedy.

Whatever way you cut it our fans were a disgrace that day and their behaviour led directly to the deaths of other fans, rotten brickwork, opposing hooligans, wider picture etc etc etc..... a fucking disgrace. For keys to suggest that it was "revenge" is over the top but lets not put his crime above theirs/ours.

But the thing is, Roma fans did batter a large amount of our fans the year before, and many of ours did turn up the year later better prepared.

Hooliganism was rife back then and was in danger of ruining the game, however the victims of Heysel don't deserve to be cheapened in a radio chat show or used as scandalous comment to grab media attention. Sadly though the truth is that there is some truth in what the prick said. Our hooligans went looking for a fight, hooligans from both teams did in fact.

I don't know if its me imagining it many years later as a false memory but i remember seeing a Juve fan running around with a scarf covering his face firing some kind of pistol?? did i imagine that??

the Roma stuff in 1984 WAS a factor...

as was Juventus fans in 1985...

as was the Liverpool fans...

as was the stadium being a shithole....

I'd rather not get involved in this as it won't end well.

This.

Whilst Keys has not potentially raised it to do this, its something that the media of the time and still today, tend to ignore as contributory factor.

The stadium, the response of the authorities, UEFA allowing tickets for the neutral section to be sold to Juve fans, the behaviour of both sets of fans and the previous history of violence all were factors.

Not sure about the pistol but I remember the guy with the scarf arount his face inciting his gang to violence. Could never understand why the cops didnt take him away, he stood out so clearly for what seemed like hours

It was a starting pistol and whilst many point out that he and his "friends" were taking vengeance for what happened to their own, it has to be mentioned that turning up with a firearm at a football game where nothing had yet happened, indicates he was looking for and / or was ready for trouble.

The English have history so do the Italians. Its just that the English seem to be pilloried more back then by the authorities and the media for their antics.

A trip to an Italian away is still fraught with the danger of getting stabbed in the arse by their scooter merchants, as visitors to Rome and more recently Naples will testify.

All of that is spot on.

Though the Belgian 'neutral' section was probably the biggest single factor if you ask me.

Liverpool fans probably werent looking for a fight, but after Roma, they were certainly ready for one.

Anyway, fuck Chimphandkeys.

I don't think there's anything to be gained by defending our actions at Heysel. We know there were multiple other factors involved, but let's take it on the chin.

When united fans sing "without killing anyone" etc, the vast vast majority really have no clue what happened at Heysel, but ultimately 39 people died and we were a part of it. I'd rather Keys hadn't said it of course, but likewise I hope we don't go on some kind of crusade to show what really happened, because like it or not, whilst maybe not the main factor, we were involved.

Just my opinion like, and I apologise if it offends anyone.

I've always felt an uncomfortable gulf in logic when I hear people seeking justice for Hillsborough while denying culpability for Heysel.

Culpability is one thing, and I doubt any Liverpool fan would suggest we have no responsibiity for Heysel.

There was a reason hundreds of Juve fans were scrambling over that wall.

But it's not culpability we're talking about, it's being regarded as 'killers'.

As long as the 'murderers' chants keep ringing out and as long as stupid commentators make stupid ill-informed comments we have to keep resisting the accusations because the mud is always going to stick.

I agree with you opinion like.

However when united fans sing "we won it without killing anyone" they seem to forget that we lost at Heysel.

Is it about defending our actions at Heysel?

I thought that most of the posts where people perceive we are defending our actions are actually people trying to paint the whole picture. Its a tabloid argument to simple say LFC fans killed 39 people at Heysel. Case closed.

Of course the actions of our fans were symptomatic in the wall collapsing causing those deaths but its not the only factor.

In the same way as we get all frothed up about Hillsborough when people take the same line as that rag. I agree with Krump as I've heard LFC fans denying any culpability for Heysel whilst screaming for justice from Hillsborough. That sits uncomfortably with me too.
