Being the 'assistant manager' is a promotion from Ambassador, or whatever he does at the moment. He hasn't been back at the club long so it's a pretty quick progression seeing he's been out the game for a while.

But then it doesn't really matter what his role is when he's Kenny Dalglish. The players, fans, local media, etc, will always respect him, regardless. If anyone saw it as a "junior" position I think that's rather petty.

On another point football is a simple game for fans. I'm not sure it is for managers, and thinking it is is highly naive, IMO.

I presume it wouldn't bother Kenny too much when you consider that his assistant manager used to be Bob Paisley.

I think you mean Ronnie Moran 😉

I was too confused by that to comment.

Well you don't like too sometimes, just in case you have missed something glaringly obvious and look a bit thick, I had to have a good think about it 😉

It would seem weird to have Kenny as assistant manager though: the title implies juniority (is that a word?). I actually think a Director of Football role would be ideal.

I think it would depend on the manager we appoint; ifwe ppoint someone with a track record far superior to Kenny then I think it's fine.

I don't think he'd fancy being no. 2 to the likes of Allardyce or Jewell 😱
