Anyone who thinks he's no good should watch this. Pace, power, skill, great touch, good vision.

Absolutely zero chance of him playing for us.

I really rate Benzema but Metro is as unreliable source as they come.

The frustrating thing with Benzema is that he is such streaky player. I'm not sure he will ever be as consistent as some of the other top strikers. When he is one he can put together a 10 match streak that rivals almost anyone. When he is off he really doesn't offer much and can put together a 10 match stretch where you are ready to give up on him.

Amazing talent to be up there with the best of them, but a lazy sh1t. He's the complete opposite to suarez in terms of work ethic which is a shame because he has amazing talent.

can't see him here at all. he always looks miserable and we don't need that in the dressing room right now.

Benzema must be the most underrated player on SCM.

I think a lot of the 'lazy' thing comes from the fact that he fails to live up to his physical stereotype. He's big, powerful and fast and people expect him to be like Henry and Ronaldo, but the fact is he's not that sort of player. He's much better as a no. 10 than an out and out no. 9.

I'd pay 30-35 million for him happily - I reckon his partnership with Sturridge will be superb. He's not as good as Suarez, but he's comfortably in the tier of players below him. Won't score 30 goals - but he'd happily provide something like 15 goals and 15 assists with obvious presence, quality and class in the final third. That's what we need most to replace Suarez.

He won't of course replicate Suarez's work rate, but I think it's folly to try and replace Suarez straight up. The attack will have to be restructured, with different players taking up different responsibilities. Sterling for instance will surely have a bigger role. Lallana's addition will also be welcome as he's a very willing runner.

I'd be very happy with a front 6 like this:

-----------------------Sturridge
--------------------Benzema
-----------Lallana---------------Sterling
------------------------Henderson
-------------------Gerrard

Markovic to compete with Sterling.

Coutinho to compete with Lallana.

Lambert to compete with Benzema.

More variations possible if Sturridge is out injured. Benzema is versatile enough to shoulder the load up front, and we can then add another midfielder in Allen or another attacker like Markovic.

I think that's an attack which would be quite different from last season's, but still be as productive. The goalscoring burden will shift across that front 4 (as opposed to Suarez and Sturridge alone), and the work rate burden will shift onto Lallana and Sterling.

Someone like Benzema however is essential to retain the touch of class and invention required in a top class attack.

He has a year left on his contract; so it sounds a bit crazy to me to pay that for him. In any case, I reckon he'll sign a new contract with Madrid shortly anyway.

Ah alright, I wasn't aware of that. I'd like him at Anfield is what I'm saying.

If Madrid get Falcao, then perhaps he'll be expendable?

I don't believe the Madrid fans have ever really taken to him - he's been jeered quite often - so on that front I don't think they'll really care if he does go.

In terms of him being at Anfield. Hmm. He is talented, yes, but (and I might be talking completely out of my ass) it seems like he's missing something mentally to really be a top player.

Also, a bit like with some of the other strikers we've been linked with, it's hard to see how he'll slot into the side and that's the primary cause of concern. It's either going to be a case of playing up top as the main man or as part of a partnership. Perhaps Rodgers is thinking of playing with two up top in a diamond formation.

I would be thrilled if we signed him for 30M or thereabouts. Much more than that though, and I'd be less comfortable.
