Juan Manuel Mata

Is it really such a hard concept to get hold of that Mata may not have wanted to come to us ?

Ooooooooor, maybe his wage demands were silly ?

Do people really believe we said,

"Aah, I know we could get this incredible young talent for an amount we can afford but, ah, fuck it, Corrie's on !"

Its hard to tell them

It matters not a fucking jot how much he goes for if he didn't even want to come here.

This.

If some can argue that age justifies Henderson price tag, I thin the same could be said about Mata who is four years younger than Downing.
I know people feel the need to support Downing because he's a red now, I understand.
But Mata is a better player IMO and he has more to his game than Downing.
That said Downing has been great for us, I wouldn't mind having both.

If Mata didnt want to come it wasnt for lack of trying on the side of the club. First and foremost though there's no way Kenny would have anyone who wasn't fully committed to the Liverpool cause. Stop the constant fucking whining when players like Aguero and Mata sign for other clubs that can offer CL footy, transfer fees and wages that we simply cannot and will not. Its the reality of the situation. People need to deal with it

I see your post and raise you oncy's list of people that moved to clubs not in the CL, 'THE' definative proof that CL football is irrelavent.

Could say the same about Enrique, and hopefully Cahill. Though I have a feeling that there's gonna be a lot of banter when Henderson and Adam win us a game. I'll happily take it.

Ok. What about wages like 52m over 5 years for Aguero. I bet Mata is on 150k a week as well at Chelsea. There's clubs we cannot compete with financially. And if Mata didnt want to come here I dont want him here either.

Go on then, show us the list.

I'm thinking of writing to John Henry to tell him that Kenny and Comolli are pissing about, watching the Corrie Omnibus, instead of signing foreign fancy dans.

ooooooooooooooooh don't dredge up that thread. Most of those players moved before their peak or after it. The teams generally went into the CL when the player hit their peak. In this day and age with the ridiculous levels of scouting most players move to CL teams.

I was messing. wages and CL are a massive factor that should be taken into consideration when we bemoaning the likes of mata and aguero not joining our club. suarez should be seen as the exception rather than the rule.

one thing for sure with the likes of aguero going to city and mata going chelsea breaking into the top 3 (guaranteed CL) will be harder than ever.

[/quote]Didn't nine of the fourteen on that list go to Man City?
I suspect that earning twice as much at City as at anyone else is willing to pay might be recompense for not playing in the Champions league.
Unfortunately we are either not willing or not able to offer either.

Dont think Mata will be the key to where Chelsea finishes tbh, or guarantee them anything at all. Good player mind.

Watching them yesterday revealed a lot of other concerns that AVB must adress aswell.

definitely but they don't have a player who can create for them. Lampard is getting too old and losing it, same as malouda. BUT Mata offers that. Sadly.

The need to get CB sorted too really. Alex looks rusty as fuck, luiz is injured, terry is on his way down......

like?

Well, half the squad is in their 30s. They have question marks about their right back, centre back, right midfield and central midfield.

Will Villa Boas play the same system as he did with Porto? If so, how will he deploy the current players he has at his disposal.

Mata is best when playing behind the striker. That still leaves them with only Malouda whose good enough out wide.
He cant continue to play Anelka there and Kalou was subbed after 30 mins.

Will be interesting to see who else they sign, as they need a couple of more players to really challenge imho.

Sunny's already said as much, but what's the point, seriously?

I hope he fucking fails anyway. Torres was another great signing for Chelsea, on paper.

Probably 3rd, but that could change depending on how good we are this season. I've got us as fourth currently and it will be very close. The heart says 1st obviously.. But City and Utd look like the main contenders.
