Juan Manuel Mata

I can no understand why people think that we want/will sign Mata. We have signed about 50 midfielders and not shipped out anyone.

Ballbag claims Arsenal have agreed a fee with Valencia for Mata. 22 mill euros.
Mata gets a 700.000 euro wage increase apperantly on the 1st of august when the clause in his contract expires.
He'll have to decide on staying or joining Arsenal.

Good to see Arsenal investing in mercurial supporting attackers, that's where they'r really been weak in recent years.

BTW, I think Young was our first choice, he's the one we went for in January, not Downing.

True , but I think we knew for a long time that he wanted to go to united so since the summer started , I'm pretty sure Downing was our 1st choice . Anyway i guess it doesn't matter , he's who we got and i doubt we'll get Mata also so we have to get use to it .

Next summer if we get champs league , i'm convinced we'll sign some big names if available .

In fairness. they don't have anyone of Mata's class in that position...Rosicky and Arshavin aren't up to it. Plus, either or both Fabregas and Nasri could leave hence top quality is needed to come in.

Gervinho, Mata and Nasri playing behind Van Persie is potentially a very potent attack. Still feel the Gunners lack a powerhouse in the middle of midfield, a top central defender and a left back. If they invest in these areas, i for one, wouldn't be writing them off.

arsenal will always have potent attack, it's keeping it out at the other end that will make or break arsenal's season

Haha!

If The Arse sign Mata, it means eiter Fabregas or Nasri are gone. Which doesnt actually make them stronger imho.

And I agree with Gary, they need a cb, lb and cm. But also top keeper.
Buying Jagielka doesnt solve the defensive issues..

Our attacks not even very "potent" these days. Left back, centre back, midfielder and striker needed, ideally.
What do you think mate.
You and us fighting for the forth Champ league spot next season?

Could see that happening yeah. At the minute United Chelsea and City are that bit better than the rest, for me. I think yous could have made better signings for the money paid in all honesty, but you've improved none the less and Suarez' quality shouldn't be under estimated. He'll win you games on his own.

I think city, arse, spurs and ourselves fighting it out for 2 CL places (3rd, 4th) as I think city are underestimating the importance of tevez' exit.

for what its worth i think city will keep tevez, and the spooners will keep nasri and fabregas
Think Arsenal will lose Fabregas, but keep Nasri. God knows what will happen with Tevez, very difficult to call.

Yeah, I'm really sure that Mancini, Platt, Cook etc are sat around, eating Turkish delight and laughing at the imminent departure of the captain, leading scorer and best player at the club.

I have rated Tevez as a better player than Rooney for a longtime...so I clearly think he is great player and will be a loss.

But many are singling out Tevez's work ethics as the reason City, will suffer...that I disagree. He is tenacious fucker, but city have that commodity in midfield in spades, so they won't really be missing that aspect of Tevez as much as people here seem to think. If Aguero
/Dzeko et all step up, they have more than enough quality to replace Tevez's football ability. That midfield can run most teams to ground anyway...

In case there are any optimistic souls hopeful that there is a possibility in the Mata rumour :🙂 re appearing for both teams in the Valencia-Liverpool friendly, it can be ruled out cos Wenger commented on the rule forbidding Henry from appearing for both teams in yesterday's friendly match. :'(

That is one serious accusation there mate.
I hope you have lots of evidence to back it up.

Oh, wait...................

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Get on this. Breaking news in Spain appaz. An that Guillem Balague has just said on twatter "mata's clause to sign player cheaper (20-23 euros) finished yesterday. Clubs agreed fee, playyer happy to go but the money didnt arrive..."

Unfortunately Chicarito did it last year during the scum and chivas game so unless the rules have been changed (do friendlies even have rules??) I reckon that kiddy fiddling wenger is talking snout!!

Ballague stating now that he'll cost 30m euro & only wants to go to Arsenal or Barca regardless.

Can't believe we didn't try for him at all. Disgraceful we paid the same for downing. Oh hang on...

And now Mata's release clause is 60m euro. An he aint going nowhere. Spurs tried but he only wanted either wanted Arse or Barc. Appaz.
