Will Juan Mata join Pepe and Arteta or Cesc and Torres is the question?
I think we need a couple of Spaniards to keep Pepe happy.
Sorry but that's bullshit mate.

I'm sure Mata will join whichever Club he feels he has the best chance of winning things.

As for needing more Spaniards to keep Pepe happy, he's a 28 year old man who has spent 5 years in Liverpool. He doesn't need babysitting.

If it came down to that it would be the easiest decision ever.
Who would you rather hang with, Torres or Pepe?
Hmmmmmmmm.

I wasn't being serious...

I'm amazed that in a thread with about as much speculation about us signing this lad as there is in the Downing one, no one seems to be saying "I like our policy on this".

Mata thread - it'll never happen.

Downing thread - We're targetting crap players.

Duh.

Sounds like Valencia know that Mata wants out and are trying to instigate a bidding war.

Can't blame 'em really...

I believe in they're in a slightly more manageable position now, but they still have a mountain of debt to clear (although it'd help if they could shift the stadium) and they're probably down to their last star in Mata. Might as well make it count.

We are

i reckon if we're seriously in for him he's ours

and by "seriously in" i mean willing to spend up to 25m

This is a player who'll take us to the next level. Let's see if the clubs ambitions match that of the fans!

It has nothing to do with the clubs ambitions. They can finance the deal but it's up to the player himself if he fancies the move

Is there anyone out there who thinks the club hierarchy don't want to win ?
Edit: *needs to learn to read*

Who do you mean mate, Kenny, FSG or DC ?
All of them. Do you think any of them are working away to do anything other than make us successful again ?

I just think this "oh we'll see if the club have any ambition" thing is complete horseshit. Whether we have enough money is the question.

We could always go after Cazorla if Mata doesn't work out.

There are a few options at that end of the market if we're truly interested in getting someone like Mata.

exactly. Mata would be ideal, but failing that theres carzola, perotti, bastos, hazard etc

granted some of them are true wingers and mata isn't overly (more a playmaker) but any of them would stregthen us

Rosco: Sorry i didn't read your first post properly.

Yeah of course they want to win, my only doubt is that we won't be getting the best out of the money we do have.

Are you guys basing this off any insider knowledge? You seem pretty certain we're interested in the guy. I like the way you talk.

I posted a few days back that we've been chasing Mata for months mate. As for the plans for him - I've no idea.

its about having options. Mata won't get the space sometimes to destroy teams so we have a player in downing who can come in and work hard for the team and whip in delightful crosses

didn't mata's father say he prefers liverpool or did I imagine that?

So do i. Even Wenger wouldn't let Fabregas go without having a back up plan ie Mata.

To be honest i think Arsenal might well be better off without Fabregas, and Mata coming in. If they can keep hold of Nasri as well.
Mata, Nasri and Van Persie working in tandem is potentially leathal.

Still need to sort their defence out though.
