Johnson

We've got Manquillo and Flanagan at right back with a couple of young reserves behind them.

I've fallen out of love with Johnson and his lackadaisical performances ages ago. Time for him to move on.

What are the actual stipulations of the loan? Say we want to keep him after this season, what has to happen?

I think it was a 2 yr loan but I'm not sure anyone is aware of how the actual transfer clause works. Certainly who would loan a player for 2 yrs without a 'Buy' option ?

Hasn't Manquillo actually played against Real Madrid last season, and reportedly done very well?

Oh, & fwiw I probably argued for him more than anyone else last season, but he finally pushed me over the edge, there's only so long you can think it's form & not his age working against him.

That's not to say the revisionism some spout is right, there's been times in our not so distant past that only he & Gerrard were our world class players & he didn't fuck off to Chelsea, Real, Arsenal or any of the other clubs that have been heavily linked with him, despite us struggling during much of his tenure.

If he could play the occasional game & stay I'd be happy, but I don't think that will suit him, I think he wants more game time & a longer contract, which we won't give him.
well said - some of the revisionist crap is so boring and monotonous, but more importantly wrong!

Johnson was good, then average, then good, then a lazy fucking cunt

Is not revisionism

The word revisionist gets thrown around too easily here in my opinion.

Most posters aren't revising their opinions, they've always been wrong.

You get a like for the humor. Not for the opinion, cause Johnson has always been a mediocre defender. He has varied from world class attacking play to virtually no input. And he's been not worth the shirt for 2 years.

He does seem to react very well to competition, but his internal motivation is shiiit.

I've gone from his biggest supporter to one of his biggest detractors. It's such a shame because he always had huge potential. There's still the occasional touch and swag of a quality footballer, but they're just fleeting moment these days. It's time for him to leave.

If he can stay fit I'd keep him. He looked injured last year and stories emerged that he played injured so to judge him on that is a bit harsh.

He was exceptional in his first season here and solid there after until the last 18 months.

What revisionism? Pretending he's a top attacking full back who doesn't have frequent lapses in concentration and hasn't been garbage for 18 months?

He's gone at the end of the season - Flanagan, Manquilo & Wisdom is more than enough.
