I saw the plans for the tribute to all those caught up in the tragedy. Its planned for the city centre and it is a fitting tribute #JFT96

Liverpool city council have made a donation of 25k. A LFC Scandinavian supporters club sent a check for 18k this week. As, well as lots of

..support from fans of loads of clubs. They have half of the 152k needed. http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/helpus.shtm Any donation would make a big difference

Can anybody guess how much Liverpool Football Club PLC or whatever alias it goes under now has contributed? Nothing.....!!!

The @HJC_Official people told me that the club is almost embarrassed by their ongoing fight for justice for the 96 fans that lost their...

And people should know this. Liverpool Football Club PLC and its board of directors should be embarrassed. #JFT96
Few more tweets but thats the gist of it

I can't speak objectively about the concept of a monument to the disaster in the city centre, but on matters of taste, the actual thing that has been rendered is fucking awful.

There's a video showing it in full on this link:

Here's the photo:

I think it's ugly, crass & far too erm, graphic isnt the right word, but obvious, we dont need to see images cast in bronze of kids lying on the floor.

I would have preferred something more symbolic, Everton & Liverpool scarves tied together over a clock stopped at 3.06, with the names of the fallen on the other side? I dunno, but something smaller & not this.

It's a good idea & well overdue, but this isnt my idea of tasteful or befitting their memories.

Thats fucking horrible

It's crass and needlessly ott looking at that

jesus

i was gona have a go at the club for not putting money towards that, and i still am, fuck the new stadium, we need to throw every penny we have at sending that shit to mars

It does look a bit like when superman get's General Zod and his homies and sticks them in that bit of glass and sends them off to space.

But more like the Pillar of Souls.

It is very Han Solo in carbonite. Very. Maybe the dude was unconsciously copying it. Or consciously.

Either way, I want to speak to the man who made Han Solo in carbonite and see if it cost 150k, coz I fucking doubt it.

God - the art critics are out today arent they?

I just watched the video, whether you like it or not is a matter of taste, but when you listen to the explanation it helps appreciate it. And despite the hyperbole it does not include images of kids lying on the ground.

Also it is more than just a memorial of the evnt, it also includes the fight for justice in its message.

I like it!

I just don't think he is a great sculptor despite the high profile commissions he gets

I know it never does to forget, the papers are in the public domain so the truth as far as we as possible will be found, but when that is sorted we really do need to move on. I need to move on from being constantly reminded of what I saw that day and the trip back that lasted for an eternity.

regards

Exactly this. There is already a great tribute at the ground.
