Has Joe got any chance of making it here?

Is he going to be as big of a disappointment as Harry. I was so excited when they both arrived but it could end up being a damp squid again

any chance under Kenny?

Can we even think of one good performance of COle's so far? Kewell, for all his injuries, performed well for us on quite a few occasions and scored his fair share of goals.

the left midfield is up for grabs and I certainly think he could shift maxi if he can find some consistancy but I'd certainly be looking to offload him in the summer. his wages are too high for the contribute we get back in return.

Joe Cole hasn't earned his keep yet and has put in a few good performances but nothing to get excited about. He probably has until the end of the season to show Kenny a bit of form or he'll be shipped.

There were a couple of Europa games he was alright in

We played bloody Robotniki and some plumbers from Norway.

In fairness I still think he is a good player and someone who can contribute to the squad at least.

He's not really had much of a chance.

This.

I think we need to get behind our players, this kind of thread is totally unnecessary, a player like him needs to be given a run of games in the team, he's got a lot to offer and I'd like to see him be given a chance. I hope we play 433 on Sunday with a front three of him, Carroll and Suarez.

kenny could lose 5-6 high earners

jove
cole
poulsen
cuntchesky
aurelio
aqualini

and the first team wouldn't be effected at all.

He hasn't looked fit to me in his few brief appearances. Hopefully he'll sharpen up and show more than Maxi has of late.

I very much doubt Aurelio is on big money.
[/quote]

okay, but I suspect the rest of them are. funny you mention aurelio as he is the only one of the above I wouldn't mind keeping.

What is this?

Postonejoecolethreadaday week or something?!

He's perma-crocked and when fit average, unless he improves substantially fuck him off the wage bill and recoup some dollar from the Hammers or whoever this summer.

This. He's started only 8 games so far this season, which is pretty pathetic. And more than of half of those games, he's been isolated on the left. In any case, who wasn't shit under Hodgson?

He really deserves a chance under Kenny. Certainly not any less than Maxi.

If he keeps at it the way he is he'll be far more of a disappointment than Kewell. Harry at least had an excellent first season with us, Coles had a stinker so far!

I think he'd thrive with carroll and suarez. Quick passing and quick movement. I think he needs a run of starts though, which doesn't seem to want to happen

I think he's one of the stupidest players we have and Kenny will avoid using him as much as he can before trying to get rid.

Agreed, but I think you'll find he's still a wasteful, average player who shouldn't be in our first team, thinks he should, and has wages and an injury record that mean that we can't afford for him not to be.

It was a stupid purchase. It's strange how Hodgson made purchase after purchase that go directly against not just NSGs methods, but against all good business and football sense. It was like a cautionary tale.

Wasn't it Purslow who pushed for the deal? He did quite a lot, didn't he? The 50m clause, this deal just to name 2.

I think this is a great insult to Harry Kewell.

I think you should demand satisfaction.

Harry Kewell was a player brought in where it looked like they could be brilliant, who wasn't old. His first season he was actually quite productive, out of position. We all know what happened from that point on.

Cole has already reached his potential, and he's on the way down. But he has a big name and the England tax, so while I've no doubt there could be promising signs with him playing in a more creative side, the fact is that he won't reach a level higher than what we've seen before, that level isn't THAT productive, and it won't be long lived, because he's old and prone to injury. It's a stupid purchase to make.

i think a few people on here are getting a bit obsessed with our wage bill. why are we totally ignoring the fact that a lot of cole's and jovanovic's (not so much, but still) wages are offset against the small initial outlay? there's only so much of that money that can be saved, especially when you factor in the transfer fee we'd have to pay for a half-decent replacement.

that's not to say his wages aren't a problem, just i think some think it's easier than it is to push down our payroll costs. still, maybe pacheco can still push on and take his place, that'd be one good solution.

That's true, however his injury record means we are paying him to not play particularly often, which makes it not particularly worthwhile.

I thought players we're insured? Don't the insurance company pay their wages during injuries?
