I doubt Sinclair knows precisely what he wants. He wants to be a first team player at a top club, but he also probably knows - he's not thick - that he's not yet pressed for a place. So he wants to be coached, he wants to be encouraged and he wants to be given chances when he deserves them. But when he reflects on such things, I suspect he doesn't have a strong sense of the best way forward, just a range of options. Someone like Ward, I fear, won't provide a dispassionate and forensic evaluation of those options, he'll just focus on the best deal financially at the biggest club, so will be pressing for a move.
