Carra's contribution to the club will only truly be appreciated once his has retired. A player that epitomises what Liverpool F.C. stands for.

I hope he doesn't go to Sky, apart from being a channel full of wankers it also has a tradition of draining any ambition from ex-pros for going back into the game as coaches/managers:

Retiring Liverpool football star Jamie Carragher is set to be signed up as a Sky Sports pundit.
The defender, 35, who will quit playing at the end of the season, has been offered a big money deal to join Sky.
It would see the former England star paired with ex-Manchester United rival Gary Neville, who has been a big hit during his 18 months in front of the camera.
Sources close to Jamie said all the major channels have been offering work, with new big hitters BT Sport making a “serious approach”.
But he is leaning towards Sky and both parties hope to seal the deal well before the start of next season.
Last night a TV source said: “Sky think he will be absolutely perfect and are most excited about teaming him up with Gary Neville.
“They were great rivals and are sure to have some brilliant banter on screen.”

He'll definitely go to sky. They have a virtual monopoly on premier league football & that's what he'll want to be involved in.

It is a worry that he may not want to return to coach but we'll have to see how great his desire is.

He's pretty grounded, maybe it's a case of him thinking if he doesn't do it now then he might disappear in the background. Better to get it under his belt now before he goes into coaching so he has something to fall back on.

It'll be interesting seeing him and Neville together, Neville talks a good game and so does Jamie.

Yeah I agree, Sky might be onto something there Carra knows the game and speaks his mind so they might well make a good pundit team.

As unbiased as Gary Neville has been when it comes to the scum I just can't see Carra being able to come down hard on Liverpool performances. It will break his heart to have to!

It's a horrible thought. He should be at the club coaching, not moving bits and pieces around on a plasma screen.

He's bloody hard on us now, he's easily our harshest critic on the pitch, so I wouldn't expect him to be any different off the pitch.

Read somewhere on another forum ( dont remember where) about this info from Dave Usher : Carra wants to take a complete break from day to day involvement in football for a year or two before he jumps back into the game.

It's one thing to keep living in hell. It's another to nip out and then go back in, mainly because you suddenly realise it's hell. Once you're out I suspect you'll stay out. Good luck to him!

Was it Houllier who first played Carragher as a centre back?

I recall there being big arguments on the official LFC forum about that, and how Carragher would never be a good centre back lol.

It's never bothered Hansen.

Exactly right. One of the reasons why so many are critical of Lawrenson (rightly IMO) is that Jocky shows how being unbiased about LFC doesn't mean automatically calling everything against them. I'm sure Carra will follow in Jocky's footsteps.

In fairness he was poor at CB in those days.

Yes, when he retires he'll soon be transformed into a whippet-fast, ball-playing defender, like Sami.
