I've just spent a superb day at Wavertree athletics stadium in Liverpool, cheering on my Niece, who was taking part in the British transplant games. The event exists not to raise money, but mainly to raise awareness of the shortage in organ donors in the UK.
Just over 15 years ago someone my Niece never met saved her life. She had a kidney transplant because someone had chosen to join the donor register so that in the event of their death, they could help someone else live.
If my family wasn't directly impacted by this, I'd probably be one of those countless people that think the donor register is a great idea, but never quite get around to joining it.
All I'm asking is that you have a look and think about it. It's not for everyone, fair enough, but if it is one of those things you've always meant to get around to, then maybe now is the right time to join the donor register and do something amazing.
