Doesn't sound too positive ...

[article]The Brazilian was asked about reported interest from Barcelona while on international duty and neglected to mention Liverpool by name.

“Talking about this is complicated,” he said. “I have a contract with my club and it is long.

“So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here.”[/article]

He clearly wants to leave if given the chance to join Barca. Problem is he's under contract so he can moan all he wants.

He's been very positive when asked about his future at the club, I wouldnt read to much into it this summer. But he'll certainly leave for Barca at one point in his career. Lets just hope we get paid a fortune.

I guess we just have to win something this year to make the decision a bit easier for him (to stay obviously)

He's been pretty positive and respectful so far, and Klopp made a point straight away after the Boro game of saying they have been discussing his role for next season. Obviously Barca coming calling would be a big draw for him, but articles like this with short, probably out of context comments are just there to feed speculation.

To be fair, Klopp probably told him we will sign player x y and z. And he's seen the omnishambles of our transfer window so far. If I was him, I'd say the same thing.

The transfer window hasn't even opened yet. I highly doubt Coutinho is putting much thought into that now.

I'm not sure windows being opened or closed, or embarrassing transfer failures make much difference. If Barcelona genuinely want to buy him, and make an offer, Coutinho will very obviously want to join them.

I'm sure he knows better than to exit the club when he's invested in so many Liverpool kits for friends and family this summer, as shown on his social media feed.

But, it's complicated. Him buying all those Coutinho shirts has only served to artificially inflate his popularity and marketability. He can now present those shirt sale figures to Barcelona, and therefore command a greater salary.

Fuck selling Coutinho. There's five years on his contract and he's getting better and better so we're in a strong position even if he demanded a move which I can't see him doing. The only concern would be if we had inserted some sort of buy-out clause in his contract but I haven't seen anything reported.

These were his comments in May.

“Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour. Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more. I have a long contract with Liverpool. Speculation is for journalists only. The whole team is playing well, today was a very important victory, next season it’s the Champions League".

I'm with Jon, I'm sick and tired on selling our best players, what's the point of signing VVD, Keita and Salah (the dream window) if we sell Coutinho? None, we couldn't replace him with better so don't bother. It would take a world record transfer fee, one well above his actual worth for me to even remotely warm to the idea, I'm talking £100million plus, even then I'd rather not, what's the point? Money doesn't win football matches, players like Coutinho do.

On a side note, I can see him having a Suarez esc season coming up, he's going to be in the champions league, assumedly playing in his new position where he looked so promising at the close of last season, with assumedly better players around him, with a point to prove on the biggest stage, we don't want to sell him now, next season he's going to run the show and rightfully be considered one of the best in the world.

Coutinho isnt that good, he cranked up the consistency a bit last season but hes still not where he could and should be.

Hes a good footballer and probably our best but if someone offered £80m plus for him, itd be an interesting situation.

Id rather we bagged keita and vvd or whoever first though ,just in case like
