I know we have our flaws, we need a centre back, a winger and a striker, but what would your preferred first XI be with what we've got, and do you think it's a strong side?
Although we miss a towering presence at the back, we still have some very good defenders and alot of our problems have been down to the system rather than the personnel, while we have a couple of REALLY good midfielders and we have Gerrard and Torres, which is enough to prevent any side from slipping from the European places. Anyway, here's my side:
-------------Reina-------------------
Kelly--Carra--DA/MS-Konchesky
-------Gerrard-Meireles-----------
Johnson------------------J.Cole---
---------Kuyt---Torres--------------
Especially for home games, is that such a bad side? I can take or leave Johnson in the side, and maybe push Kuyt wide and play Patches or find room for Shelvey, who I think looks an excellent prospect, but anyway, the team above with the addition of the likes of Shelvey is a good, balanced side that is good enough to be in the top six. I know we should be pushing for glory so I'm not lowering my sights, but realistically and competitively I think that side can aim for a top six finish, with the right manager obv.
The main concern as we well know is the depth of what's available, the fringe is shite with the likes of Lucas, Poulsen, Maxi, Jova, N'Gog and Babel, but if we stick with that side we can only get better.
