Barnes was right on the spot too! He had no problems seeing JH throwing his knee around, yet he failed to see Mealamu punching the irish lad (in exactly the same area)?

Barnes is a very patchy ref. He's done the occasional game at my local club (Worcester Warriors) and is either brilliant or dreadful.

JUst watching the preview for the next game - I've never seen Hape play before but he looks to have all the makings of a good 12.

And England haven't had one for quite a while now

I've never rated Barnes much, he seems to make far too many costly mistakes.

Look at the video. The pictures you see are those available to the video ref. Try or not? For me the ball is very clearly grounded.

How could this been given as knock on, thus denying Ulster a bonus point? Perhaps I'm being overly sensitive, but the only conclusion I can draw is that this is properly suspicious. If video technology is used then they at least have to get the decisions right. I actually think this should be investigated.

From one angle it looked like he might have had no hand on the ball when it was grounded but the slow-mo puts it to bed.
