Watched some of the Villareal game yesterday ... He looks devoid of confidence in front of the net - missing chances he's probably being burying since he was 5.

Is this the end of one of the greatest players the game has seen? or is the tax issue, unhappiness with Madrid hierarchy & Mark-like procreation hurting him?

This season: 4 goals in 14 la liga games
 
He's not finished - he has been superb in the Champions League so far this season.

Madrid have struggled to replicate that in the league this season.

They have made 3 finals in 4 years in Europe - and from what I recall I don't think they have really brought in many new players in that time (other than a handful of Spanish U21's who are in the B team at the moment)

This season Benzema has been average, Bale in and out due to injuries, Mayoral brought in a squad player - Ronaldo has had to shoulder the burden to deliver the goods without his supporting cast performing.

Then the likes of Casemiro, Isco & Asensio haven't delivered in midfield - so he's not alone when it comes to poor form.

I think Madrid will definitely spend big in the off season - and they usually spend a shit load in WC year.
 
He's going to be 33 next month, so it's not surprising that his productivity is going down. If anything, the fact that he's remained this productive into his 30s is testament to his absolutely top notch physical conditioning.

Yep ... the only aspect of his game that has regressed is his speed, which you point out being 33 is to be expected.
