Is mane in the gameframe?

Saying he's not good enough two years ago and unwilling to pay 10 mill, but then paying 25 mill now would be a very Liverpool thing to do.

Cant see Klopp doing it mind.

I'm on the fence here. He's as good as anyone we have but can he elevate us the to the next level?

Sane > Mane.

We seem to have had a shade too many of these types of player before and is it any wonder we still finish around Southampton in the league, either just above or just below?

Isn't that more than anyone we have? Not bad considering he's not their striker.
Yes, but our squad doesn't score enough, maybe I'm being harsh and delusionally optimistic, but I want a wide player who can score 15 goals a season, I genuinely believed that Goetze could do that, but I don't think Mane would.

I didn't think I particularly cared who we signed this summer considering I have much more faith in Klopp bringing in players who would suit, but I really, really don't want us to sign anyone else from Southampton.

Mane scored 15 goals last season.

If you're just talking about Premiership goals, he scored 11. Which is very impressive for a winger, and more than Firmino managed.

I'm sure we could do better. But if replace the likes of Lallana(4 league goals) with Mane(11), we'd move up a step. All comes down to what he'd cost, and what else is available.

I guess I'm just worried he's go the same way as Lallana, who had a decent premier league return of 9 before he joined us. There's a lot to like about Mane though, he's fast and strong, something we desperately lack in those positions, so maybe I'm being harsh on him, but I feel this position is our most important signing this summer, I want it to be someone brilliant.

He's a winger who has scored 10+ goals in 4 of his last 5 season, including 2 years in the premier league. I don't mind taking a punt on that.

Mane is excellent. Quick, strong and very clinical. He's a no-frills kind of player, which would be a welcome change from the overly intricate faffers our AMs can be at times.

His scoring record for Southampton is 25 in 75 which is 1 in 3 - absolutely outstanding for an AM. I posted a table a few months ago, and Mane's goals-game to ratio is the best of all current AMs in the PL, and amongst the top 3 of AMs in the PL in the last 15 years.

Is he world class? No, but I think he fills a need better than Gotze in that he's got pace.

The only problem will be the fees because Southampton are likely to fleece us again. If we could get him for about 15-18 million, that'd be ideal.
