I think the mancs and arsenal will be in top 4. Who else will make up top 4?

Who thinks we're in there for a top 4?

We're 10 points off city right now and, if Spurs win their game in hand the league table will read City in 4th and Chelsea in 5th. I think Chelsea have given up on the title and will be concentrating on winning the CL this year. City's hopes of the title went with Rooney's goal the other day IMO. Spurs, for some reason, don't seem to recognize the fact they're out of the race and I think this will see them finish above City.

So who thinks we can make up 10 points on the Sheik's new play thing and, assuming they win their game in hand, 9 on the Russian mafias old play thing?
 
If we'd beaten Wigan I would have said we could have done.

We may still catch one of Chelsea/Spurs (big may but its possible).

But both? Can't see it happening.

Unless Chelsea continue to try and play Torres with Anelka wide right and Spurs go all the way to the final the CL.

Then there is a glimmer of hope.

But more than likely Spurs+City.
 
Can't see it, to be honest.

We dont have a better squad than either Spurs or Citeh, and the King Kenny Effect can only go so far.

Can't see City blowing it from here on in personally mate.

If it's not us then i hope the chavs miss out, could you imagine how Poor old torres would feel?
 
I'm saying City and Spurs. I think the Chavs are riven with insecurities, and trying to accommodate Torres could continue to prove more of a hindrance than a help. I think we've made our move too late.
 
It will be easier to say after the United game.

But i have seen things to be hopeful about that.

When Kenny took over, i expected us to finish about 6th, but having seen how well he has done, i really do think we may achieve something this season.
 
Is it still the case if a team from the Premier league win the Champions League but fail to finish in the top 4 the team finishing 4th missout?
 
Nah, I was checking the table when we were 1-0 against Wigan and even then it was a long shot.

I'm going to go for City and Chelsea.

Outside chance of catching Chelsea (game in hand is against Man Utd) but the draw against Wigan hasn't helped.

I had a tenner on us to get top four a couple of weeks back (16/1) but, in truth, 5th is likely best we can do.
 
One game at a time, 3 points at a time.

The top 5 all play one another and provided that we keep winning, the possibility is there.

One tiny part of me believes it might happen, especially if Chelsea and Spurs go far in the CL - they MIGHT take their eyes off the PL ball. City won't though: they'll finish third IMO. Likelihood is we'll finish sixth. It would be hilarious if we beat Chelsea to a Europa League place though.
 
We need the results against united, arsenal and city next month, if we get them, we most certainly can do it. I believe we can do it.
 
it just depends on if City go through a bad spell, Torres fucks up the chavs and Spurs get CL mad and lose focus.

I think we will do ok but it is all down to the other messing it up

I don't think we can do it personally, if we had won at the weekend I could have believed
 
What a minute?! I thought our squad was too rubbish to win a Champions League place!

As some are allowing themselves to contemplate it, maybe our squad isn't sooo bad afterall. I can't believe after the first Merseyside derby that there was a discussion on MOTD2 about whether Everton (Everton!) had a better squad than us. I guess changing evidence changes minds.

I think we're very capable of beating any of the teams above us but we've made our charge too late... we could maybe catch Chelsea, though, as they seem to have the most problems of the sides above us, but I think that's it.

OUr squad isnt as rubbish as Hodgson thought it was,but it's also not as good as you think it is.

We probably have the 5th or 6th best squad in the Premiership, and that's probably where we'll end up.

It wasn't just Hodgson who thought our squad was rubbish though. Loads in the English media thought it and still do.

I agree with you actually about its strength, as I think it was always good enough to challenge for a top four spot but not a certainty to win one.

I did have a tingling of optimism before Wigan, but we really dropped the ball there. We'll need to put an unbelievable run together, and I don't think we're capable of it.

Ahh, fair enough.

I don't see us getting champions league, but then I've just done a predictor for the rest if the season & I don't see us getting beaten once, with only two draws too!
 
It's off. Was on before the Wigan game though...
If Dalglish can get the generator going we might be able to turn it on again but I sincerely doubt it cause we're low on gas.
