we both know he is not absolute garbage. he's a german international playing for one of the most successful teams in europe this season. he's very good, admittedly he wasn't outstanding in the final, but to write him off as worse than bramble and co after one game, is a bit too much.
Wasn't outstanding is being generous. He was badly at fault a few times and cost his team the game.
There's an argument for having defenders like Hummels, because defenders touch the ball more often than anyone else on the field. But I don't think you can afford to sacrifice the basics of the position for good on the ball ability.
