There's some rumours that 4Chan, everyone's favourite autistic, right-wing, meme-generating kek factory may soon be history.
It's simply too expensive to maintain, so unless it finds some way to monetise the (totally anonymous) readership and content (good luck with that!), it might be curtains. Unless some rich benefactor (notch, probably) gives them a few million.
It's not a place I visit - just way too scarily mad and offensive on certain boards, and NSFW, or indeed life - but everyone on here will be aware of some of the ...er....activities that have found their origins there, or at least gained momentum on one of the chans (or were alleged to. It's hard to tell given how wilfully esoteric, disingenuous and fiercely antisocial a lot of it is)

I'm not sure it will be missed if it does disappear (or simply wither and die) but it's certainly a fascinating glimpse of the darker side of internet culture and left an indelible (skid)mark. It's also lasted a lot longer than I ever thought it would, given how unsustainable the costs are.
Mind you, rumours of its imminent demise have been circulating for a decade.
