Reina wasn't at fault for their goals, was he?
Not really. They were quite good goals. Well the first one anyway. Great counter.

Babel is just not a striker
He's scared the shit out of our RB tonight though. Glad he's not playing for Spurs this weekend.

I have a horrible feeling Defoe will score against us.
he was running at Johnson from the right, but when he went central he was poor...

Johnson is dodgy defensively, leaves a lot of gaps and hates runners. this will be exploited

A sense of amusement, I guess.

babel was poor but still passed johnson with ease every time. was worrying to see but then in a liverpool shirt johnson would have better cover.

really think babel won't make it. he has the turning circle of an elephant.

oh and i home carlton keeps the weasel out of the england team.

Its funny how everyone is leaping to put down Glenjo for the skinning Babel gave him yet offering no praise for Babel for giving said skinning.

Riera rifled in a beauty for the winning goal.

So 3 of our players on the scoresheet tonight...all bodes well for the all important league game on sunday!

because ANYBODY could have done what babel did...
who was the great ashley young skinning tonight?

Probably because Babel consistently did fuck all once he had took him on.

Encouraging that he's taking people on of course, but his choice & quality of pass/shot etc needs to be much better.

Lads, I didnt even see the game, I was just saying it to be difficult I suppose.

He only took him on three or four times and out of those won a corner and a free kick right outside the box. That's really not that bad.

He did have one or two good opportunities that he didn't make the most of though.

Yeah I'm probably being harsh, he just doesn't get you on the edge of your seat even when he's driving past defenders.

A few good performances could change that of course, and hopefully he'll come on strong

He could be the ace up our sleeve 😉

Just watched highlights of England vs Holland, Robben had a fine game as did Dirk.

Justice is done? England were deservedly behind due to incompetence
But dominated most of the match and could easily have won it - so justice was done.

Darren Fletcher gave the weekest performance ever seen by an International in Norway. It even shut the mancs up about how sorely he was missed in the CL final!

Ireland were atrocious but as I backed the Aussies to win I quite enjoyed the game anyway. Tim Cahill, Scott McDonald, Harry Kewell against the might of Glen Whelan, Kevin Kilbane and Darren Gibson - easiest bet I will win all season I reckon.

McGeady was crap again - how Celtic had the cheek to put a £12m price tag on his head I'll never know. Darren Gibson makes Lucas look like Gerrard. Kevin Kilbane wasn't good enough when he was in his 20's, now he's 103 and he is embarrassing himself.

We're not the worst team in the world but we don't have many players good enough for top level international football and if any of them are missing we are capable of being beaten by worse teams than Australia. We're lucky that in our group our main challengers for 2nd place Bulgaria are going through a transitional phase too because neither team really deserves a play off place on current form.

Ridiculously we could actually top our group if we manage a home win against Italy, if Trappatoni gets this current squad automatic qualification it would be a phenomenal achievement.

Dirk Kuyt scored an excellent goal as Holland surrendered a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with England in Amsterdam on Wednesday night.
The Reds number 18 started as a central striker for Holland and netted the opening goal after 10 minutes when he capitalised on a gift from Rio Ferdinand, took the ball around Robert Green and expertly found the net.

He also saw an effort kept out by Robert Green and played for 77 minutes. Ryan Babel played the second 45 minutes on the left wing.

Glen Johnson lasted the full 90 minutes and played his part as England came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 thanks to two goals from substitute Jermain Defoe.

Meanwhile, Fernando Torres and Albert Riera were both on the mark as they helped Spain come from 2-0 behind to beat Macedonia 3-2.

Liverpool's number nine and Pepe Reina started the game, while Riera played the second 45 minutes.

Spain found themselves trailing 2-0 at the break, but in an incredible four-minute spell they were 3-2 in front as Torres and Pique quickly made it 2-2 before Riera fire home the winner.

El Nino played for 64 minutes and Reina made way for Diego Lopez two minutes later.

Javier Mascherano played the full 90 minutes as he led Argentina to a 3-2 win over Russia in a friendly on Wednesday afternoon in Moscow.

The Reds' number 20 had an impressive game in central midfield as he proudly captained the team to victory.

Diego Maradona's team came from behind to clinch victory over Guus Hiddink's outfit, courtesy of goals from Aguero, Lopez and Datolo.

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko pulled a late goal back but Maradona's side held on.

Yossi Benayoun played for 54 minutes during Israel's 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland in Belfast.

Philipp Degen started for Switzerland as they held Italy to a goalless draw.

It was a frustrating night for Hungarian duo Krisztian Nemeth and Peter Gulacsi who played the full game as the under-21s lost 4-1 to Wales at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.

And nobody got injured! Hooray!
...and Riera is back. A bit shocking that he played actually.
He can't actually have been injured at all, or we wouldn't have let him travel. Maybe that part-exchange move to Valencia is still on after all?

Watched Chile tore a mediocre Danish side appart last night and one player in particular stood out.

Alexis Sanchez or 'El Nino Maravilla' as he's known by fans.

What a player, would be a perfect buy really.

Can play in the hole, as a striker or on either side of the wing apparently. A utility player with tremendous technique and speed.

Anyone know more about him - he's playing at Udine mind.

Why haven't we bought him yet?

More or less 🙂

We're 7 points ahead of Ronaldo & Zlatan & Co. in the qualifier mind so we're probably going to SA come next Summer which is nice!

Because the last player we bought from Udinese was Dossena?
