Since Bayern dominate most matches then there's far less requirement for Kane to run back/defend. Playing for England is another matter and I would also hold Kane back in matches we're not expected to dominate.
The problem is that Kane barely has any competition. Sure the world cup is still 1.5 years away but unless Watkins suddenly turns into a goal scoring machine, who's gonna take his spot?

As a lone striker in a high octane attack, I agree. He doesn't have the pace to run behind.
