Doni is currently negotiating his release from Roma.

In other words we'll either be paying Roma £1 million of Doni an extra £1 million in wages.

Robinson is one for the future. I still reckon that Aurelio is one of the best fullbacks in the premiership when fit. So he's good to have as a backup. I personally wouldnt mind us buying a new left fullback. Kelly should be our new central defender. If we cant get Cahill or Dann on the cheap.

I agree that Kelly will probably be best at CB. I would worry that he will become be injury prone if constantly playing at RB.

Roma have shown an interest in Liverpool and Argentina defender Emiliano Insua, claims his agent.

“We have spoken to the Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini,” Rodrigo Vilarino told calciomercato.com.

“The situation, at the moment, is on stand-by. I don’t know how much he would cost, that all depends on Liverpool.”

The 22-year-old, who was wanted by Fiorentina and Palermo in the past, joined the Premiership side in 2007 from Boca Juniors.

The South American left-back spent last season on loan at Galatasaray before returning to Anfield this summer.

Indeed. This is crazy. Insua had a promising start, but then he went shit. Seems unlikely that will change. Rafa didn't ruin him, he gave him his chance.

I have deliberately avoided this thread in the, possibly mistaken, belief that by doing so it means this isn't real.

I tend to agree.

And, tellingly, he couldn't even get into the side is a shit league - so what hope should he have to get in ours?

Does he have an Italian passport? If so he wouldn't need a visa to go to Italy. Fingers crossed.

I doubt he has one considering he never played in Italy
[/quote]

You're significantly underestimating the number of south americans who have italian nationality, thus aiding their entry to european football even when they havent made the necessary international appearances

Insua Agent Confirms Roma Talks

The agent of Liverpool left-back Emliano Insua has held talks with Roma regarding a possible transfer, but insists there are no significant developments to report. Insua spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, and was expected to join the Turkish outfit on a permanent basis this summer. However, a move did not materialise and he has since returned to his parent club where he has impressed in pre-season training and friendlies. But with Aly Cissokho’s arrival believed to be imminent, Insua could find first team opportunities hard to come by at Anfield next term so it is in his best interests to leave the door open for potential suitors. Italy looks the most likely destination should the Argentine move on, and Roma are in the market for a new left-back after former Red John-Arne Riise departed for Fulham earlier this month. Insua’s agent, Rodrigo Vilarino, confirmed that he has held preliminary talks with the Seria A outfit, but admits there will be no developments until Liverpool’s stance is known. “I spoke to Sabatini about him, but at the moment there are no particular developments,” he said. “Emiliano has returned to Liverpool after the loan spell at Galatasaray. Now we have to see if he is in the English club’s plans.” As it stands, though, Insua will remain with the Reds as they continue their pre-season preparations and, judging by one of his recent tweets, he is more than happy to do so. “I am feeling Liverpool player again!!! Really happy!” the 23-year-old tweeted.

Ha so he is not far off Evra

If you consider the Turkish league to be on par with the EPL, then yeah, he's not far off Evra.
