Interesting latest injury stats :

Remarkably, 40 matches into the campaign, Klopp could have every member of his first-team squad available to face Rafa Benitez's side.

It's not luck, it's testament to Klopp's rotation policy and the expertise of the club's medical and sports science staff.

Much was made of the manager's constant tinkering earlier in the season - he's made more changes that any other top-flight boss.

But now Liverpool are reaping the rewards of Klopp's approach which was designed to help ensure they lasted the pace both domestically and in the Champions League.

It makes a mockery of claims from Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen earlier this season that Klopp is some kind of dinosaur whose "outdated training methods" cause injuries by pushing players too far.

The former Wales assistant boss is a long-term critic of Klopp but he's been strangely quiet about the German coach since he last stuck the boot in back in October.

In reality the stats prove that injuries have reduced considerably during Klopp's reign.

The total number of days missed by Liverpool players due to soft tissue, preventable issues in 2016-17 was 144 - down from 623 the season before. There were three hamstring injuries last term compared to 17 in 2015-16.

Bonza

We do seem to have a lot less injuries this season. For example I would have expected Oxo to got his customary spell on the treatment table by now.

Clearly were doing something right, and no longer relying on horse placenta

Cue Salah, Firmino and Mane all sustaining season ending injuries

We don't press as much this season.
Yes & no.

We don't press as much for as long, but we do press as aggressively at times, we just do it in a much more controlled & managed way, so we don't have to do it for as large a proportion of the games.

The fact that more teams are happy to let us have the ball in an attempt to park the bus helps with that too, of course.

Encouraging to see managers like Jurgen Klopp are not too old to learn from their mistakes in previous seasons. It has taken him 2 years but Liverpool manager Klopp has finally found his way to deal with the external factors in the English Premier League.

I think it's more down to luck at this stage and the fact we have had big breaks with being out of both domestic cups.

We made the final last year remember.

Also as Ross points out we don't press anywhere near as much now as we did last year.

We are also blowing a lot of teams away so we don't have to work as hard over 90 mins in every game.

We've got 17 games left tops, hopefully our squad can stay injury free for that.

Anyone got any stats regarding the pressing and running?
I think its down to Kornmayer, experience, squad depth, rotation and a better understanding of Klopp’s tactics and gameplan.

So... not down to luck then...

... and no... I don't remember us making the final last year... you might be thinking about that other team you follow.
