Fabio Aurelio injury update

Liverpool FC Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science Dr Peter Brukner has confirmed the defender is facing four weeks on the sidelines after assessing the injury at Melwood.

Brukner told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He's got a significant hamstring injury. Unfortunately his body lets him down. He always play well when he's fit. We've been managing him carefully because he's not been playing twice in a week, but this just came out of the blue.

"He had a minor adductor strain a few weeks before that. We rehabilitated him and he trained all week with no problems at all.

"He'll be out for a month so that's a blow. It's a partial tear. It's what we call a secondary degree hamstring. It's similar to Martin Kelly's and these are three or four week injuries.

"He's obviously very down. It was a sad sight to see him walking off the pitch. He's frustrated because he was playing well on Sunday. He was looking forward to getting a run of games but it wasn't to be."

Brukner also revealed that Daniel Agger is making slow progress in his recovery from a knee injury and admitted Thursday's Europa League clash with Braga could come too soon for the Dane.

He said: "Daniel had a nasty kick on a joint to the side of his knee. It's an unusual spot to get an injury. They take time and he's a bit of a slow healer. He's still not 100 per cent so we'll have to see if he's fit for the game this week. But it's more likely to be the following week."

Liverpool will still be without Martin Kelly (hamstring) and Jonjo Shelvey (knee) for the trip to Portugal as the duo continue to step up their rehabilitation at Melwood.

Brukner added: "Martin has a similar hamstring injury to Fabio. He has a partial tear of his second degree hamstring. But he's jogging again now. He's making good progress but he probably won't get back before the international break.

"So we are looking at the game after the international week. That'll give him five weeks which is a good period to rehab him.

"We are also happy with Jonjo's progress. He's working hard to strengthen the tendon that's been damaged."

Do they just talk about the injury when it's Aurelio without mentioning his name as they know everybody will know who they are referring too?

It didn't need fixed to be honest. If he had of been talking about Agger in the first paragraph I think he would have gone with 'The other one had a nasty kick on a joint to the side of his knee'

Poor Fabio you have to feel sorry for him. I honestly thought he was playing very well on Sunday until the injury

Wish I could get paid to just stay at home and nut all day 'pretending' I had cramp.

I would go through soooooo much porn. And the odd mail order bride.

he's on pay as you play isn't he?
[/quote]

Yep.

He's surviving off food stamps from the Government.

I'd be surprised if Aurelio plays for us ever again to be honest. Just. Let him go.

Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if he is considering hanging up his boots altogether. Shame, as I really like him and he could have been a fantastic player for us without all these injuries.
