I just realized I don't know of any sci-fi where people in space are on the dole. Why is this? I mean if you're made redundant and you're on Theta Epsilon 5, do they have to send you back to Croydon or wherever you come from?

I think I'm going to write a movie script about a bunch of lads who are laid off while working on a building site in another galaxy. Like a sort Auf Weidersehn Pet meets Lost in Space meets Band of Brothers.
