We seem to have a team of players who can do nothing but keep the ball and pass in triangles. Its almost as though Kenny forgets that when Paisley and Fagan and of course he himself were instilling that in our teams in the 70s and 80s we had WORLD CLASS players who could also do the remarkable.
It looks like all we do in training is fucking pass in triangles. In the centre circle before the game kicked off Carroll was telling Adam and Johnson what kind of crosses he wanted. How in the fuck is that not priority ONE in training. OK HOW DO WE GET GOALS?
For the record there wasnt ONE ball whipped in early as Carroll requested. The kind of ball that Gerrard played twice in the Newcastle game was completely lacking. What was NOT lacking was one touch passing in triangles. There was fucking loads of them. LOADS.
You can see the influence of Shankly with those five a side matches, you can see the possession ideology that is generation to generation. Train only with the ball. Keep possession. 'Pass and move'.
What I dont see is anything else.
We dont know how to do anything else. Non of the players on the pitch today can do anything else.
Sad.

Look in fairness the passing in triangles and actually learning to retain possession of the ball is nothing to be scoffed at, it's something we've needed to do, we haven't always kept the ball well in recent years. Obviously at the moment we are lacking that cutting edge in the final third, but maybe we need to be a bit more patient about what we're building here long term. We're laying the foundations, but we're still developing as a side

Yep, you can actually see something being built here. We're not good enough yet, but we look like we're going in the right direction.
