If Man United is so poor as many pundits and some of us are saying, is it likely they will win the PL again?

I think if they don't win it this year or next that it will be more difficult in the future for them, unless Ferguson buys really well in the next four windows. This year has thrown up a fair few surprise results already and I personally think this trend will continue. The rise of City seems assured, whether it be this year or next, and it looks like Villa and Spurs are on the up (not saying they are top four material yet). These teams will take points off people, including UTD.

As for being happy, if we don't win it, as long as the mancs don't win the prem? No, I will not be happy, it still means some other bastards will have won it.

Realistically it will be a miracle that we can win the PL this year, but then miracles do happen ala Istanbul.
It is not a tough choice really if we don't win, obviously we do not want Man U to win.

Certainly not, but it really is a case (for me) if we don't win it that I will be unhappy regardless of who wins it.

@Roland; I think you (and possibly most of SCM) would be surprised to learn that Chavski are actually behind us in the form table (only on GD, but still); here's the top 4 for the last 6 games;

Team Pd W D L F A GD Pts Form
1 Arsenal 6 4 1 1 18 9 9 13 L W W W W D
2 Man U 6 4 1 1 13 9 4 13 W W W D W L
3 Liverpool 6 4 0 2 15 6 9 12 W W W L L W
4 Chelsea 6 4 0 2 14 6 8 12 W W L W L W

i like to think that happiness is measured through our successes not other people's failures.

This is correct, and anything else is a small club mentality. Sure, once you've lost you start betting against the winner, but not now.

We are certainly not out of it but need to put together a substantial winning streak to give ourselves a real chance. The chavs look the business but there's still a ways to go. If Gerrard and Torres can stay fit, there's every chance we can go all the way. There'll be a few more surprises along the way and we need to win when our rivals drop points.

You might be right, hopefully

Am very sure it is correct but.... if we fail, surely our choice is that that someone else fails too.

Right, but we're not dead yet.

Also, isn't it about the journey? I mean, why do we watch these games anyway? Is it so we can add the numbers 1 and 3 together many times until we see where we are? Fuck that.

Agree, it is about the journey also. So for the time being it is one game at a time.... but why is so many of us jumping the gun by showing so much angst and anxieties in the forum?

To be happy when our rivals win nothing would make us Everton.

To pretend not to be happy when our rivals win nothing would make use liars.

There are many facets to the game, not just our own performances but also those of teams about us. Aren't we all sitting there with smug grins when Everton, United, Chelsea or Arsenal lose ? Do we not feel a tinge of happiness when another team we have a soft spot for overcomes one we don't ? I even feel a degree of satisfaction when Crewe, Tranmere, Chester or Macclesfield win !
