If City get Terry and Lescott

The fact remains that the amount of money the have spent will win the the league sooner or later, they definitely will win in the next three to four years because they will spend enough money to do so, i imagine that this years mission is to break into the top four and get CL footy to make it easier to sign in the biggest stars.

and they will....

I disagree about Given also... the man is a class goaly.
I do not think Hughes is shaping up too badly as a manager either...

like i said in the city thread they are two centre backs away from a top 4 finish this season.

they will sell some of the players they have brought in over the last 2 years and continue to upgrade their team. they will win/buy the premier league sooner rather than later though with their international flavour once they get a strong manager they'll compete in the later stages of the champions league first imo

anyone who thinks that city will continue to be a midtable side is frankly deluded.

as for given being a poor keeper ???

Given is a bit overrated.

His range isn't great, certainly not even close to Reina's but he stops every shot within his range. He has improved his two previous weaknesses as he's gotten older, crosses and dealing with the ball on the deck. He's a bit injury prone too.

Very good, but not one of the best.

Hughes has done well with limited resources (Wales, Blackburn). The Citeh job is a very different one and they didn't play particularly well last season, so for me the jury's still out on how well Hughes will fit into that set-up. If they make the right signings they certainly should challenge for the title, but I'm not sure they'll win it while he's there.

Terry won't leave Chelsea.
Lescott may sign for City, but that won't change anything.

They still need a centre back, right back, central midfielder and a goalkeeper, if they want to break into the top 4.
And even if they spend 50-70 mill on those issues, Hughes has to build a team, which he so far hasn't been able to do.

Given is fine.....Scum won 3 leagues in a row with a very average VDS, and Given is better than him.
Zabletta aint too bad.

A Central midfielder like Toure or Diarra would be good business for them.

I would also recommend someone of the ilk of Patrick Viera, another 'name' that could come in useful against some lower league opposition, whilst also making the club a little more attractive.

Heh, Given is not better than VDS.
Yes he is. VDS has a EPL record that his defence and not him earned last season. In fact I can't remember the last time the cunt pulled off a save. Remember what teams theyve both played for aswell Given has always made his defence look better than they are whereas VDS's defence have always made him look better,

You don't think much of Irish players, do you Ross?

None of them are good enough for LFC.
Ha! I actually agree regards Reina, you just seem a touch bitter(???) towards them sometimes.

If you'd been to about 25 home games and had to sit through shite in about 23 of them you'd feel the same way

He may not always have been, but he definitely is now. VDS is a long way past his best.
Given isn't better than VDS, at least he wasn't last season. Even if VDS should have retired after last season, and will probably show signs of age this coming season, he's much better at organizing the defence, distrubuting the ball and controlling his area than Given.

Given might pull off some world class saves, and has great reflexes but he concedes far to many easy goals imho.
List some.

Given is a fantastic shot stopper, he probably edges VDS in that department.

I think VDS is a better keeper at just about everything else though.

Yes, VDS is better at playing behind Ferdinand and Vidic than Given is.
